Anyone else into Tom Sawyer?

Anyone here ever read Tom Sawyer? I first read it when I was a teenager - the Persian translation, actually. Later on, when I was a bit older, I read it a few more times, and what struck me the most was the rhythm. The rhythm of the dialogue, especially in those parts where the descriptions drop away and the pace picks up so much you almost run out of breath reading it. I’ve always loved Twain.

Lately I’ve been going through the original English text, and I’ve been using ChatGPT to help me figure out the grammar structures. I’ve realized a lot of those constructions have changed in modern English - some sound old-fashioned now, or just aren’t used much anymore.

I’m planning to share some of the things I discover here, and if you guys feel like it, you can jump in with your thoughts too. You can grab Tom Sawyer for free from Project Gutenberg, and there’s also a free audiobook on LibriVox or YouTube.
