writing challenge of Eva

My world has been spinning after hearing it! Now I have no idea about the difference between day and night. All seems same to me. I am in darkness and have a feeling that there is no brightness around me. What is life? Is it about sipping a cup of coffee with proper proportion of milk and sugar. And, what it would be if I forget to put black pepper or salt in my evening broth? What does it actually mean if someone have chocolate mousse instead of orange mousse? See, how many people are in mud, h

Bob is a miner, he worked in that coal mine, day and night for many years. one day he trapped 2,300 feet underground in the pitch black, he tried to reach for the light, but he couldn't. He was sheltering in a rescue tunnel. His friends alerted the emergency services. They are trying to save him through a capsule. Days gone past mud falling through the hole over his head and it was cold and snow. Bob never lost his confidence to see the brightness from the darkness. He missed his favorite drink

Evangelina has just published a writing challenge. The reason she did so may be due to the encouraging comments on her previous blog in which she asked if we were ready for or welcome a writing challenge.

While it seems most of the members think it helpful to take part in a writing challenge, some members may be doubtful about it. They may try to ask this question: what's a writing challenge really for or what's the point?

Tara, the former admin, used to encourage us to write more with her monthl

Unfavorable Numbers

4 and 9 are unfavorable numbers in Japan because 4 suggests death and 9 suggests illness. The reason why these numbers suggest these things is because 4 is read し, which can mean death, as in 死(し), and 9 is read く, which can mean illness, as in 苦(く). There are some Japanese hotels which don't use 4 and 9 for their room numbers.

In addition, the number 7 is favorable. There are words like "lucky seven". What numbers are unfavorable in your country? And what numbers are favorable?

According to Together We Rise, 1,200 kids enter foster care in the U.S. TWR brings together volunteers to help kids who are in foster care, and it inspires families to adopt them. All the volunteers are quite young, actually: "In 2008, TWR was founded by college students after one of their classmates discovered that their 9 year-old cousin was living in a car," states TWR. "They wanted to do something but they came across some obstacles because they were all under the age of 21. Government agenc

Love in contrast

Eva's

Writing Challenge - Contrasting words,

Love in contrast:

It made no difference between night and day for me since I fell in love with you. You must see that it is my blind love.  Be sure that I am not going to drag your name to mud by publicizing my love.  But the fact is like snow white. On the contrary I find myself unable even to express before you.  There is a burden on my heart. To those who think in black-and-white terms, my love may be either entirely good or entirely bad for you. Whe

folklore

My great grandma told folk stories, she was very good at that. Most of the stories related to nature like, mountains, trees, rivers, flowers, paddy field, farm, birds, animals and so on. The underlining principles of the stories would be love, truth, honest, mutual respect, kind, righteousness, unity and sharing. She was always used proverbs to explain things and she sang lovely folk songs which we never heard any where. It's only stayed in our community. One of the folklorist from our nearby Un

2347250739?profile=originalHi, my dear friends! Today I'd like to post the test on the prepositions of action. First, this group of prepositions is the most problematic in use. Besides, just these prepositions are used in the phrasal verbs and reading your comments to Dan's blogs I see you have some problems choosing the correct preposition for this or that phrasal verb. So, before starting this test, you should read my explanations in the attached file.

You're the fear....I don't care....

Raina was sitting and closing her eyes alone...the air was moving her hair gently and smelling the pure air of nature. "Raina! Prepare yourself tomorrow will be your wedding".

Raina was living a miserable life with her own society. She was from the law class, she was forced to deal with bad minded people specially her drunk useless brother who used to snatch her own freedom. Completing her education was the biggest dream that she fought all

Back to Phrasal Verbs II

2347253213?profile=originalMy dear friends! Today I am posting one more blog related to the Phrasal Verbs. Your task is the same as in the previous test: you should fill in the blanks with the appropriate prepositions. I hope, you learned a little from the previous blog and Tanya's explanations of the prepositions of action. For those who haven't read either, I am attaching the file with my wife's comments and giving a link to the previous blog.

Humanity Or Property

we all crave to be loved for our very own self not for money, beauty, prestige, fame and whatnot. We feel offended if others love us because of the wealth, fame or other factors. If a relationship is only based on one of these cases like wealth, beauty and etc, it will not last in the long run. For instance the moment there is no wealth, the relationship will be over.

The more you get to know a person, if there is no goodness in his or her heart the relationship cannot maintain. That’s why after

Text 1:

Tomorrow I will  do business with some Chinese investors at my company. It'll be a very important business to speed up product sellings this month. To be very relaxed at the very moment, and so, do my best at negotiations, I prefer do nothing before.  For example, I asked for my wife to book a visit in hairdresser to do my hair for the company meeting. I also asked my wife to do the cooking, do the housework, do the shopping and do the washing up without my company. She gets a bit angry w

I've just bought a book on English grammar to celebrate World Book Day

I enjoy reading books on English grammar and have bought scores of such books. I even thought I had enough and the bookstore seemed no longer attractive - I used to be a regular visitor there.

The fact that I've got enough grammar books, however, doesn't mean I don't need to learn more grammar. I know there's still confusion, or rather, I know there's still something I don't really know about the grammar.

I just finished rea

Adverbs and adjectives

As adjectives describe or modify nouns, the adverbs describe or modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. The adverb is placed after the verb it modifies. The adverbs are sometimes used to strengthen or weaken the adjectives. Some adverbs or adverbial expressions that tell us about the speaker's viewpoint or opinion about an action,  or make some comment on the action. Of course,  these kinds of adverbs are different from other adverbs because they do not show us how an action took place. They
