As you know, billions of Asians are celebrating the Lunar New Year (Some people call it "Chinese New Year" or "Spring Festival" in China). People in Korea or Vietnam or some other countries may celebrate it in different ways. But, one thing's for sure, they all wish themselves or others a happy and lucky new year.
I myself sent a lot of text messages on the New Year's Eve to wish all of them every happiness, a fortune, prosperity, success, health, a dream come true or something like that in the new year . Yes, there're so many rituals or details you need to observe on the eve and the first few days of the new year. You should be very careful when you do these because if you do something wrong, you might not be so lucky or even unfortunate in the new year. It may sound like superstition. In fact, I found myself a little superstitious about saying wrong or doing wrong when celebrating it, even though I'm a doctor and not really believe in God. You may say you see no reason to be that careful , but there is a lot of uncertainty about the future of our world. Tomorrow may be a good day or a bad day. There could be wars, natural disasters or fatal accidents in which thousands of lives would be lost.
Yes, it's also true, in the new year (this year is called "the year of the snake"), everything may be going very well for you or you might find a good job and make a fortune or even fall in love with someone. You never know:))

Thanks Mr. Expector :)
Happy Persian New Year to whoever is celebrating it!
Yes!
It is the year of Snake :)
Here is Persian New Year.
Hi Syed,
Thank you for your comment. Some of the Asian countries (not all the countries) celebrate the Lunar New Year, especially in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
Hi mitran,
Nice comment! Yes, we don't have "the year of the cat". That's the difference - otherwise it's the same.
It sounds like you're such a lovely mother:))
@Hala
Yes, you can say that again. Whatever the new year will bring us (good or bad), we're confident we'll survive all the bad things. Being optimistic seems to be the right way to face any difficulties ahead of us. I don't think it's up to us to decide about what will happen or won't happen - sometimes we have no choice but to face whatever happend. Thanks for the comment and Happy New Year!
@Tara
Thanks for the nice comment! I'm glad you love the expression. May the new year bring you everything you want!
I love the expression "you never know". It's a good mantra for life. Excellent writing, Expector. Happy New Year!
No matter what our beliefs are ,the new year is a new start ,and what the year becomes is up to you. All you have to do is steer your ship toward your goal, and hold true to what's in your heart ,even come the stormy weather, and should worry, and self-doubt rattle your sails and darken the day... simply let a gentle wind carry your troubles away.Above all, no matter where the year leads you.... never stop believing you can succeed and never stop believing in you.
I wish the new year brings to you more success and happiness and to achieve all your dreams !
@mitran
Thanks for the nice comment! I wonder if this new year is the "snake year" in your country (Vietnam)? I know you too have 12 animals for 12 years - one animal for one year. However, one of the animals is different from what we use for the year.
Yes, it's said you sould be careful about what you say or do on the first day of the new year. If you shouted at your kids on the first day, you would shout at them in the whole year. That's too bad, huh? But, you never know:))
@Faraz
Thanks for the good wishes! Happy New Year to you too! "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (to make a fortune in the new year)!
@nida
Thanks for the nice comment! May this new year bring us all the peace and happiness!
@Junco
Thanks again! Yes, some people might even wish everyday would be a holiday. For some people, it's time for them to reunite or relax or just have fun.
@Nadiyah
Happy New Year to you too! Do you celebrate it? I heard you can take a holiday for it in your country.
