Writing Prompt ~ First Conditional

Writing Prompt: The first conditional is used to talk or write about real possibilities in the future. Review the rules for using first conditionals. Then pretend you are a parent who wants his or her kids to be behave for their grandparents on the weekend. Write a note to your kids. Offer some bribes for good behaviour.

Dear Baobao and Beibei,

Be good for your grandparents this weekend. If you are obedient to them, I'll continue my last story which you want to know the end for a long while. When you get up in the morning, make the bed by yourselves. If you make your bed, you can get a box of DOVE from me. My sweeties, you will make my mom and dad happy, right? If yes, Mom will be happy for that. You know, if I am happy, hmmm, you can realize your wishes more easily.

Baobao, Grandpa's eyes are not good, if he wants to read something, what will you do? Mom has taught you as a gentle boy, you should be caring and understanding. You know what to do now, yes? ;-)

Beibei, Grandma's hands cramp in cold water. So will you help her to wash vegetables and fruits? Tell me yes, my mild girl. Mom trusts her girl is a sweet and loving girl.

Baobao and Beibei, if you bring joy to your grandparents, Mom will be proud of you. Like mom, like kids. Your mom is such a filial kid for her grandparents too. You'll be in my shoes, right? Hehehe. Finally, Mom hopes you two enjoy a wonderful weekend with your grandparents, my mom and dad.

By the way, please send my regards to them. Take care!

                                                                                                                     Love you

                                                                                                                     Pretty Mom

  • Now I got you. Thanks for your tips. It's so kind of you, teacher Tara!

  • @Mickey Great! In your sentence, "grandparents" does not need to be capitalized because it is not used as a name. When you use relatives as names (without a pronoun), you must capitalize them. Here are some examples.

"My mom is busy at work." (You are telling a friend.)

"Mom is at work." (You are telling your brother. You both call her "Mom".)

    "Where are your grandparents going?"

"I miss Grandma. When is she coming home?"

    "I miss my grandpa."

  • Giggling, Ehab. I am sure God will send you as many lovely kids as you want later!

BTW, I don't have kids yet, either~ heheheh.

  • Dear Tara, you are right, actually anything can be the topic to write. I enjoy writing blogs on MyEC.

Baobao and Beibei, if you bring joy to your grandparents, mom will be proud of you. Yes?

Sorry, I didn't follow this question " can you explain why "Mom" should be capitalized in this sentence, but "grandparents" should not?"

I'll check the rules about Capitalization. I still have problems on this issue.

Thanks for your comment, Teacher Tara!

  • Hello my friend

    I have no children

pray for God to give me children

    thank you

  • It's great to see you using EC's NEW Writing Prompts on your blog. I hope many members will see your posts and join you! MyEC bloggers can no longer use the excuse "I don't know what to write". Actually, you never had that problem! : )

You did a great job with first conditionals! Can you fix the sentence below? Also, can you explain why "Mom" should be capitalized in this sentence, but "grandparents" should not?

Baobao and beibei, if you brings joy to your grandparents, mom will be proud of you.

  • Lol, in dozens? Oh no, to give birth is painful, isnt it? Do you think I am that brave that I can neglect the great huge pain? NO! At most I want 2 kids.

If I have kids, then you are their auntie. Don't forget to visit them often! hehehe.

  • I can see you are a loving mom, sis sewar! Unlucky, quite a few women have to work while take care of their kids. So time doesnt allow them to be with their kids every moment. I'll keep your words in mind, and when I have kids, I surely will spend more time with them.

    ;-)~

  •     Sweety, if, one day, I allow to anything to keep me away from my children, rally, I will not deserve to be a mother. Tomorrow, when you have children, you will remember my worlds. God bless you my little princess.
