I was busy hoping when I noticed a slow irksome creature crawl that feet-tall dried plant. I came near it to check who that was. This morning painted boring and my mind was only preoccupied of the upcoming spring. Oh, how I love to trick my fellow insects when it is spring, they are all forgiving. But that day, almost in the last days of winter the surroundings were so dull and unexciting. I hopped and hopped and hopped and went closer to that glutton. “Hey, glutton!  You look awful!” while laughing at it. Its body was so dreadful, spiky and creepy to look at. After reaching the top, it was became engrossed eating some parts of the stem of that plant. It noticed my presence and look down. It glanced once and ignored me, it continued its feast to the worn out stem. “Why don’t you talk? Are you mute?” I insisted. That thing really worth my pestering, it was so ugly. I’m good at this, fooling around, irritating fellow creatures, this is my pastime.

Every time that I saw that glutton, I wouldn’t miss the chance to annoy it, but it seems doesn’t care at all. The thought of it ignoring my bullying gave me a rage. All it cares for was dine endless indulgence to leaves and stems.

One day, I decided to change tactics, I greeted it nicely to test if it will react towards me. “Hi, aren’t you tired of eating? Don’t you like to play with me?” I said. It curved its body to face me, ~~creepy! That’s the word in mind seeing its face so near me. “I don’t have time to play, sorry.” It answered. It is a she, based on the tone of voice. Seeing its face, really, I want to puke and its body gave me a fright as if its spike will tear me into pieces. But she seemed interesting, a woman with spikes, ugly and distant.

I observed her, from time to time teased her of course with no effect but at least she’s not that completely quiet, sometimes she teased back. She’s getting huge and eating almost her size. “Aren’t you worried that you’re getting fat?” I asked her. “No, I need this in the future, ” she said. “Why so? You’re making yourself uglier. Haha!” she ignored my joke. “Do you like spring?” I asked to continue the conversation. “Yes, I do.” She answered while chewing. “Great! You should play with me when spring came, this place looks wonderful.” She just gave me a blank stare and said: “If you’ll wait for me.” I’m puzzled for that last statement.

My days before spring passed like that, until one day she left me. She was nowhere to found. I wandered around and no traced of her. I felt a bit sad. I used to see her in this area, now she’s gone.

I went to her favorite plant and as I looked up, a white cotton-like hanging in one stem, it looked like a hanging coffin or a prey suffocated by a terrible spider. What was that? I came closer, studied it~~I was so shocked to see the shape of it, it’s her inside! Maybe she became a spider victim, oh no! I have to do something to free her, as I hopped to bite the linen connected to that stem somebody yelled at me. “Stop! You might kill her!” I searched for the voice and saw a dragonfly, “The spider will eat her and I need to save her!” I yelled back. “No, she wasn’t caught, she’s sleeping”. I was confused. Dragonfly never lies, based on its record. I was pacified knowing that she’s not yet dead.

Every morning I came to visit her, checking if she awakens, I even gathered her favorite leaves and always leaving it near her so she’ll have something to eat after a long time sleep. I stopped fooling, teasing, and tricking around. I waited for her. “Hey, wake up! It already springs!” I told her. No response. The place was awesome, magnificent, and lovely. I wanted her to see these flowers, the trees, the other insects. I missed her. I missed her terribly now that spring looks so lifeless for me.

One morning, the usual routine, I came over and brought her food, the white cotton-like was ripped off, showing the emptiness inside~~Oh no! Where did she go again? She left me again.

“Hey, grasshopper!” a very familiar voice called out. I gazed around, left to right, down and up…I blinked my eyes~~ the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen in my whole insect life. She’s flying towards me and I blinked multiple times, was she talking to me? “You didn’t recognize my voice?” She landed on my front. She was so mesmerizing, enchanting, and majestic. “I’m the fat ugly caterpillar you used to tease. Haha!” my mouth left opened staring at her, absorbing what she had said.

“You are so lovely!” I said.

“I told you to wait for me, come on, let’s play.” She demanded.

I couldn’t say no…and for me, this is the most beautiful spring in my insect life.

You thought that ended? No.

We only played for two weeks, and she left me for good, she left me hollowed. My being isn’t complete without her, but now I realized how someone could affect our life’s SEASON. I was like a winter creature, cold and irritating, but when she came, life was full of surprises, excitement, and adventure.

My most beautiful two-weeks spring with her means my whole life.

END.
