Last Dance
It was cold Friday's night. Like every week she was in a hurry to open the creaky door of the old, desolate house situated in the suburb. She sneaked inside, rushed to the first floor and found herself in a spacious room looking like a dancing hall. She felt excitement, desire to take on her noble, red dress, to play the old gramophone...and to start dancing slowly with ease like a floating angel in the sky. Suddenly nothing existed, just her moving body and passion for the dancing were in the air. She got so immersed into own dancing world without noticing that music was playing louder and louder, as if somebody was turning it up.
It was him. As usual he was late but when she opened her eyes, she was so happy to see him. He greeted her and politely asked for one dance. Finally! This was the moment she has waited for since the last Friday. This was the moment she was lately living for – her dance of the week. A mysterious guy in disguise wearing death costume dancing with her, touching her waist and playing with her became her drug. She needed him so bad even though she knew nothing about him. Two months ago he invited her to this house by sending her a letter. It was his idea, his handwriting, his words on the paper saying.. just one dance... The longer it took, the more curious she was about him.
Anyway, today she was finally decided to reveal his secret, to take off his mask and look into his eyes. They both were passionately dancing, when the moment came. She plucked up her courage and pulled his mask down! Suddenly time stopped ticking, the music stopped playing and the silence devoured everything around, everything stopped existing. He disappeared as well as the old house and she was standing on the street in her red dress and didn't believe, what she had experienced. Was it just her illusion? Was it real? She knew the only one… it was too late to regret...

Very nice story Luci. I started to write a story about this image, many days ago, and I had already thought the same tittle "The last dance". I wrote the half story then I quitted of it because I found it difficult to express some things I would like to write. But since I read your story, it is again in my mind :/
Anyway, I like when you write about psycho things, I dont know why. :D Maybe because they are not common and you surprice me nicely :D
Hi Luci
Is this the romantic or horror story of yours actually??? ^_^. It is like her romantic illusion or magic power that occupied her mind as if it was real. Or it could be a ghost of a man who searching for his lover in the past? So only you who can explain the story theme.
By the way thanks to write such a good story of you. Have a nice day.
She was in love with her illusion :)
Nice :)
Dear Luci, I have missed it. I don't know if it is your challenge or not. Anyway, I wil not start a blog to say the only one phrase. In the background is your weird wild fantacy, something you desire subconsciously but don't even dare to think about!
Well, I am unbearable, you know!
Beautifully written, great imagination and flow of the story ... well done :)
This is such another beautiful and inspiring love short story with some mystery/suspense in it. The atmosphere of the plot has a great portrayal of the picture and it has just the right amount of detail to give these characters life without losing focus where we can see the mysterious guy wearing the death custom and the lady in red dancing together in the middle of the dark castle. Well, I can imagine the scene with severe thunder and lightning, the music played with an old self-piano would presumably be "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" some of the classics played that fit the atmosphere of place and the setting can be depicted as a dark misty castle in the middle of the cemetery full of candle chandeliers that swing back and forth and a big Victorian clock ticking. I do love the cliffhanger ending when the lady unveiled the mysterious guy's mask to see his real face and everything has just vanished. Well done, Luci ! Keep writing these inspiring plots, I do enjoy reading them! :D
