Writing Challenge: My Father

Are you proud of having a daughter like me?

My father, I'm anyway proud of having a daddy like you.

Mother told me it was you who taught me to speak,

Still the first word I spoke out was "mom".

You know your daughter is always afraid of height,

Yet I feel secure riding around your neck,

actually it is exciting.

You used to call me little shortie,

Haha, with mom's heels I look taller than you!

You keep the habit to give me a gift on Chilren's Day,

Even though your daughter is no more a kid.

The first rose I received was from you,

On your 10th wedding anniversary.

......

I have too many sweet memories between us,

As many as my long thick black hair.

I have much gratitude to express,

First and foremost.

I love you.

By the way, Sir!

Next time try to be wise,

Do not compliment me more beautiful than your wife.

Mother is jealous!

Giggling.

  • Mickey,

This is a fantastic poem and tribute to your dad! I hope you share it with him. I loved every word of it. It's both funny and sweet. My favourite part is about your dad teaching you how to speak and you saying the word "mom" first. Your poem says a lot about good fathers and how selfless they can be! Brilliant!

  • Such a wonderful blog my little sister
