Writing Challenge: My Eponym

L u c i c t o p u s

Meaning: BrE, AmE [lutsiktəpəs] Prounounciation

adj., defines a person – mom (rarely even dad), who is very busy with the kids, multitasking, able to deal with more than three tasks at the same time.

Example:

1. If a partner of the lucictopus woman doesn't appreciate her, he will be treated very badly.

2. Once you reach a lucictopus state, your life will turn upside down.

Origin: Luci is a mom of two little kids, who is busy almost 24/7. Since she lives on her own, she must usually deal with many situations. At times she feels like two hands are not enough and that is why she became jealous of one sea animal – an octopus. Imagination of having so many tentacles (in human beings - hands) fascinated her so much that she even asked some scientists to start working on the project called "Artifical hands for lucictopus women". She also thinks that it would be very helpful for moms of the twins. An adjective "Lucictopus" was named after her and her role model octopus.

Quick Quiz

During a day you can come across lucictopus people in:

a) a pub drinking carelessly

b) a playground blowing nose of one kid, watching what the second one is doing and thinking about what will be for dinner

c) a beauty saloon enjoying their services

  • Oh, I laughed! I went through a lucictopus stage a few years back. I thought it would never end. But it did, and now I miss it. Can you believe that? I actually think of lucictopus as a noun. A person who is lucictopic. Ha. But, it's your word, so I'll try to use it as an adjective!

Fantastic writing(great pic, too)! You have such a great imagination. I look forward to your responses every month.

BTW- Even though I know the answer, I'll have you know that I was at a beauty salon just today! The hairdresser worked on my hair for a blissful three hours and even gave me a lovely massage. One day, Luci, your life will be less lucitopus and more luxurious. I promise!
