Writing Challenge: MY Ec Cook Book

Today I would like to give you one of my favorite food items. It is called '' Kumro Fuler Bora ( Kumro means pumpkin, Fuler means...flowe's, Bora means....bora...lol). But, sorry I can't add any photograph right now but hope to add later.

Ingredients:

1. Pumpkin flowers-20 pcs.

2. Flour- 1 cup ( wheat flour)

3. Rice flour- 3 tea spoons

4. A pinch of termaric powder

5. salt- as per taste ( but of course a pinch of )

6. water

7. oil

Process:

First you have to collect some pumpkin flowers. In our villages they grow in everyone's gardens but in cities we have to buy them. So, after getting the flowers, wash them and rinse them softly. After washing and rinsing put them in a plate. Now get a bowl, put one cup wheat flour, add 3 tea spoons of rice flour (to get crispy taste), add a pinch of salt,  less then one pinch of termmaric powder and of  course  water to make a semi thick batter ( paste). Now add those flowers one by one and mix them properly. In the mean time, you have to put oil in a pot. Switch on the gas oven and heat it up for a while. Then, put the flowers separately, you better  not put more together. Fry them medium yellow.

This item  tastes good with warm rice or you may bite them as snacks. Enjoy!

  • Interesting! I did not know that you could cook with pumpkin flowers! Let's hope some pumpkins come up in my garden this year. We planted a bunch of seeds.

  • Never heard about pumpkin flower, though I've heard of zucchini flowers being made into such thing. By the way, it sounds like the making of tempura. :D :D :D

  • It is sth sooo exotic to me, afro. I must find somebody who would send me pumpkin flowers because here we have nothing like this :-) Thanx for sharing!
  • Pumpkin flower- 20 pcs!!!! Are you in a mission to drive pumpkin to extinction? LOL I've heard that 'kumro fuler bora' is very tasty, but I don't know why my mom never made it. Now I'll try to make it by following your recipe. :)

  • Thanks for sharing this dish - sounds easy to cook.

I'm afraid I can't get the pumpkin flower, though.
