The words are magic, I tell you, magic! The hole invitingly loomed in front of me and I crawled in cautiously fearful of what I might encounter in the glowing expanse. Then a quick glance around revealed quite a welcoming sight so that I wiggled further and made my way inside. I let my eyes drink in all the fascinating things happening around me and revel in the hustle and bustle of its energy. I watched as lives unfurled in front of me like butterflies from a cocoon and the laughter around me was so contagious that I just had to take part in it. There was the pursuit of knowledge from learners like a mad hatter’s relentless zeal. There was the jovial exchange of sentiments from age-old acquaintances, there was the unceasing flow of ideas sending waves upon waves of inspiration my way. There were also a few squabbles here and there but never too pronounced as to warrant a beheading prompting me to believe that the words “Off with his head “was really just part of my imagination and nowhere near this site. Finally it was the abundance of cordiality and acceptance everywhere in this place that I giddily succumbed to the temptation to take a bite of this delectable cookie once and for all. I flung my words towards it like a shout to the universe, risking the consequence of only my own voice echoing back to me. Do I dare hope to be big enough to be seen or will this attempt shrink me into nothingness?
A forest of wonder! I found myself wandering through a maze of fascinating creations, there was the wise caterpillar wanting to know who I am, do I really know the answer to that question? To my amazement there was the Cheshire cat pointing me further into the winding road of the forest of words and leaving behind a smile as it vanishes like air and appears again coaxing me to play croquet with the Queen. There were those with a sad tale to share and those that reminded me never to lose my temper or else I just won’t hear the ending of the story. Patience Alice, I tell myself. Soon I find myself changing in bits and pieces as I delve deeper into this forest, why it was just a while ago that I entered here as a child restless with the onslaught of strangeness but slowly the warmth of affirmations blown my way slowly, quietly, placidly released the tension like the sunlight finding its way through the cracks of the thick foliage of leaves above me and lulling me in a sweet embrace.
A dreamscape! I would but click “sign out” and be brought back to the reality of my existence, back to the delightful shrieks and cheers of my preschool students, back to the dreary world of chores, back to the tender arms of my husband who never ceases to stroke my heart with three substantial words and my two crazy, adorable kids who could turn their mama’s frown into a smile …anytime. Can both worlds mingle into one enchanting dream? Words become magic wands in this blogging world and words brighten the eyes and hearts of those reading and writing it. Words weave stories and exchange of ideas that builds friendships. Friendships comfort the soul and the body so that life is enriched and complemented. Friends can be found anywhere but friends who share words share magic and that is why I wish to continue to blog here in this wonderland called MyEnglishClub.

@Walker: Thanks Mr. wolf this wonderland is filled with wonderful magical creatures sorry to miss it sometimes because the other world has its demands. :)
Hi Expector Smith, glad you dropped by! With regards to your question on remembering words, what works for me is when I find a word from an article or a book that is intriguing to me, I make a note of it and so I have a list of words that fascinates me and I keep using them over and over and over until they become familiar to me like the back of my hand and I like using them because they fascinate me in the first place. So I suggest go with something you like because if you like it, it won't be so hard to remember. Hope this helps. :)
Wow! Terrific! That's really something.
I couldn't be too impressed. I really enjoyed reading this - you've got such a magic writing style and such a large vocabulary!
Incidentally, I was wondering if you could share the trick to remembering all of the words which are uncommon but wonderful.
Keep it up!
How fun and clever to think of EnglishClub as Wonderland, Alice! I loved this post. You're so creative. I love your last line. It really sums up your experience!

I never imagine that EC is similar to that Wonderland, but reading from your wonderful words, I can see any members transport themselves into this magical world of EC.
