window

For Writing Challenge #5 let's learn more about each other by looking out our windows. Choose the closest window to your computer and describe what you see in 100-150 words.

My WindowI'm looking through my dining room window, which is on the main floor of the house. My backyard is scattered with plastic sand toys that we forgot to store away before winter. The shovels and pails and balls have been buried under the snow for months and they've lost their colourful shine. There are at least ten new branches poking out of a peeling tree stump. We used to call the tree "Twigee" but then it grew so large we had to cut it down because the roots were creeping up to the house. If I stare long enough, I know I will see two black squirrels chasing each other playfully up and down my neighbour's fence. I am happy to see so many signs of spring. Now it's your turn. What's outside your window?*Come back as often as you'd like and describe a scene outside a different window! When the challenge is over I'll invite you to visit again and tell us which window you liked best."If a window of opportunity appears, don't pull down the shade." Tom Peters

  • Yes, Zaizura. We must remember to be thankful for our eyes! Your picturesque forest sounds beautiful. Rahim, I love that you found your nephew washing your car when you looked out your window. You must be a wonderful uncle! Great writing!
  • When I look through my window, I see many colorful flowers, the sun shine like smiling to me. I can see a lot of people busy to go to work, school etc. It's very pleasant environment. I also can see some animals busy playing themselves. The wind is blowing. The flowers look like dancing themselves. I see my neighbor ready to go to work, smiling and waving her hand to me. Birds are flying, chirping busy to find their foods. I also can see a picturesque forest not far from my house. Thanks god I still have eyes to see these wonderful view.
  • What the importance about the window in our life? Think about...
If large, you can have a healthy life without acarus
If small, there is no enough air to your lung
If closed at the night, you sleep well
If closed during the day, you can't see the sun. Soon, there is no inspiration in your life
If you have a window in a cottage, you'll live without stress
If you have a window in an small apartment between others buildings, you'll just see just a cold and unfriendly environment.
If want to live safe but unhappy, you should preserve your window closed all time
If you want to understand other people, cultures and religions, look at your window
If you want to understand yourself, your deeper feeling and your pains, look at your mirror.
The window is just more one prerogative of the human, among others...
  • I'm with my office tasks which couldn't been finished. My notebook is on and my fingers touched in every single button of keyboard. I looked through my window and saw my car being washs by my nephew. Thank you for helping me. I'm lazy to wash my own car due to overload tasks from office. Beside that i saw children were playing football in the feild. They were running chasing one ball with their voiced clearly heard. I was recall my memory when i was a kid on that time. I was still remembered that when i always played football until late evening. My mother shouted and called me home before my dad came back from works. I knew that, if i failed to be at home before dad, i'm was in troubled. I just smiled to myself.
  • Hi Mai! Your writing is beautiful. I'm sorry that your view is of factories and black smoke. When I was in university I lived in a tiny apartment that was once a dentist office. There were blinds in the room when I rented it, but I forgot to look out the window. When I moved in I opened the blinds and it was just a wall. I got tricked!

  • Riya, thanks for your description out of a hostel window. Very unique! I feel bad for the sad tree that nobody has time to pluck flowers from. I hope it is strong enough to withstand the pollution. Maybe we can dig it out and replant it in front of our clubhouse. :)
  • I'm at the same window today, but the scene has changed. Forsythia trees are now in bloom and have formed a friendly fence to keep my children on our property. Our mini trampoline has been moved outdoors (instead of in front of the TV where I jump and watch Oprah in the winter). It looks lonely out there with all of the neighbourhood kiddies off at school. I must go out and fix the poor gnome who fell over in the windstorm. I am so thankful that spring has sprung.
  • Hi Tara,
while I am sitting at the table using my computer, I can see outside in order because we have a big window which lay one wall to another wall. There is a balcony in front of the all over the flat. There some flowers into whichs are gorgeous especially Sardinias after you can see the Ege sea (in Turkey) from end to end.The sun shine or sun set fills up the living room, I am hearing sounds of waves.During the day, some people are seen at the swimming pool which is placed in the garden of the building.Silence is always dominant, sometime I listen quitness.
  • Wow, Suela! That must be what the birds see too! Excellent description. I can't wait to see the photos.
    More windows please writers...
  • I prefer to talk about my office's window world, cause there is more beautiful scene, especial at this time. everyday, when i look up to the window out of my busy working stuff, seeing the fresh green leaves shining under the water blue sky, makes me feel so peaceful and hopeful. that's amazingly good.
