In few days, I will have to give my final exams. I am supposed to study for them, but I don't have any intentions or passions for that. I think I am so exhausted mentally. The reason that I realized I am mentally so exhausted was a nice message that I recieved from a friend on EC. The message made me think that I have lost true joy and contentment of my life because of my university workloads.

Then, one thing guidde me to another. To take this university workload and stress off of my shoulder, I decided to watch an inspiring video, How to be a no-limit person, a video of Dr.Wayne Dyer. He is well- known as the father of motivation. Despite the fact that he had a very tough life and reared in orphanage, he became a very successful person with perfect integrity and personality. It's not important if one is successful or not ,but it is important if a successful person has integrity and strong character.

In the video, Dr.Wayne Dyer said that our interpretations of life make life a happy or sad journey. Then, I remembered a question that my friend Anele asked almost three years ago, and I promised to write a blog about it. During these three years, I thought about what she asked. Anele asked what makes me sad. At the time, I thought so deeply and paid attention to what really makes me sad. Then, I realized there are so many things in life that can make me sad ,but I won't be deeply and truely sad because of those things. For example, you may get a low mark from one of your courses or you may lose your jaket in the university or you may hear someone talk ill behind your back or maybe someone is mean to you. None of them makes me deeply and truely sad.

Contemplating about this drew me to think about other things. I asked myself what if I won't be sad even though terrible things happen to me ,and lastly,I became curious how great people do that. Then, finally, I found the answer. Based on what I read from different spiritual people, there is no sadness or happiness in things or events. Sadness or happiness depends on my interpretations of the events. This is ME who let something looks sad or happy. If I interpret that low mark means the end of the world, then low mark is the source of sadness. But, if I think low mark is just a number and doesn't reveal anything about me , then I will be happy no matter what.

Thus, everything depends on me how I interpret them, and since I would like to have a serene life, I let myself go of things that don't matter and pay attention to things that matter. One thing that matters is a nice message from a friend. Nothing equates its joy! Thank you all my friends for all your lovely messages. I feel blessed!

  • Dear Zahra, of course I tag you. Thank you so much for being a great friend and thank you so much for your comment here.

About what you said, as you know, everyone in this planet has his or her own purpose and in order to be truly happy, everyone should follow his or her true purpose. And true purpose is the one that makes you happy. If something makes you happy, it means that you should follow that path. When you follow your own purpose, life would be worth living. It also helps you and people around you. My answer to you is that always follow what your heart tells you. You already know what you want to do and no one can tell you what you should do because no one can know you better than you. If you follow your  true purpose, the universe also helps you and supports you because this is the reason you are here and I think everybody has his or her own purpose so we shouldn't compare our life to others or do what others do because we have no idea why others are here for.

Honestly, I don't think people want to go to university to be educated. In other words, they don't go to university for the sake of getting knowledge or enhancing their knowledge. Most people do it to satisfiy their ego. They think that a piece of paper give them character. So, in my opinion, if you really want to gain knowledge, go to university. If not, as you said, enjoy your life because life is too short and believe me or not, we don't have so much time. As Buddha said, the popular problem is that most people think they have time!

I really thank God for what I have. I mean I am so happy about going to university and this is what I really enjoy doing that. However, some times it gets very hectic and super challenging and as I get closer to the end of semester, I become tired. However, I'm happy and thank God!

I hope you also choose a path that makes YOU happy not other people. We get education to have a peacefull life. If you loose your peace, then don't do it because it's not going to help you at all!

It was nice writing to you again. I am really missing my friends, writing and hanging out on EC.

    Take great care,

    Nafis

  • Dear Manuela, I'm so glad I see you again. I always remember what you told me when I am hard on myself. It's always with me! Thanks a lot...Big hugs and kisses!

  • Hi dear Nafis.

First of all, I am so happy to see you back here. I was missing your nice blogs and words.

Secondly, I hope that you are successful and happy at university. I am sure that you'll do well on your exams.

Thirdly, I do feel what you're saying. Some time ago, when I had to study for the exams, though I loved to be here enjoying my time, I was somewhat feeling the same as you do.

It's been a while that I am thinking about whether to accept challenges and stress of continuing my studies at higher grades, or to just have no stress caused by exams and assignments, and let myself get educated slowly and by myself. I can sit before my computer and study whatever I feel I need for my real life. I can buy and borrow the books I do really need to have a great life.

Maybe I am wrong and I need to continue studies at university. Maybe in the future I'll need higher degrees to have a job. Yet, why not living peacefully now?

Even if I need a job, degree is not the only way to find one. There are many successful people who don't have academic education; they've had creativity, hope, and essential info for their job that was gained through their own search and studies.

I am not saying that university is not needed. But I feel that I am not that kind of person who can peacefully take exams and enjoy her life at the same time.

Some of my friends who are really successful and study at best universities here are not really satisfied with their lives. They told me how much workload they have and that they can not have enough rest. They are not truly happy. Even they may not love the field they are studying.

I am struggling with myself to find the best way of life for me.

I won't encourage you to forget about university and getting best results there. Everyone should consider her own situation, and then decide. Maybe you need to pass university successfully to get to your true goal.

There is something that makes it difficult to decide what to do. Life is not always easy. So we may need to pass some difficult periods to have what we deserve and what we desire.

Anyway, I hope that you can find the best way through which you feel satisfied and happy, though you may take some challenges.

Finally, I want to thank you for tagging me here. Can you imagine how much I am happy? Thanks so much.

    Have all the best.

    Peace.

    :)

  • Dearest Nafis, I see you make progress :) ! Remember to be gentle with yourself.

  • Hi, dear Expector, thanks so much for your comment. You are so right. There is always something to bother! I am trying to be relax. Thanks a lot. I hope you also have a nice time!

  • It seems we humans always worry about something!  Relax and enjoy your life.  Good luck!

  • Thank you so much Fahim. Self control is also dealing with how we interpret things. If you interpret as nothing ,then that thing won't bother you at all.

  • Dear Grace, glad to see your comment here. Missed you so much. Thanks a lot for your wishes. I need it.

  • Thank you so much dear Sahar. This is so true. Being hopeless is the worst thing of all that can happen to us.

  • Dear Nafis,

I couldn't agree more with these sentences "there is no sadness or happiness in things or events. Sadness or happiness depends on my interpretations of the events. This is ME who let something looks sad or happy."  The most crucial part is ourselves (ME). When we take a different angle to look at the world, the world is differently and boundlessly vast and wide.

Hope your final exams will all pass successfully. Take good care of yourself, Nafis. :)
