When laziness takes over...

She was different. Not like others. Since childhood her weight wasn't upsidedown, in fact she was always "bigger". Her mom used to tell her that obesity is a genetic issue and she inherited it. Her mom feeded her with junk food, her mom explained to her that she couldn't ever be slim. Unfortunately, like an obedient daughter she believed it all. She was too lazy to doubt, she wanted to live her indolent life and was reconciled with her destiny.

At the age of seventeen she started smoking. At first she felt so mature, however later she became addicted and couldn't imagine a day without a cigarette. Every weekend she spent in her favourite pub drinking with her friends and feeling relaxed. Anyway, somewhere deep inside, she felt she wasn't like her friends, she wanted guys to look at her with interest, she wanted to be somebody else. That's why she decided to do something, lost some kilos thanks to drinking fake coctails, which later made her even fatter. To start moving would be totally impossible for her. Like she used to say - such hard work, would kill her!

Years were passing by even though she was more then one hundred kilos, one day her friend turned to be more than friend and both fell in love. Her dream came true...she felt loved and she was happy. They built a house, she gave a birth and things seemed to be fine. Anyway, her weight started complicating her life. Step by step her obesity was influencing her life. Kids were laughing in the kindergarten, when she came to pick up her son. People who saw her on the street were turning back, if this was possible!

Besides these little things, the worst problem was that she had no movement. She was going to work by car, sitting the whole day on her chair and then again went home by car. No sport, nothing. One day she started having cramps in her legs and hands too. It was so unbearable at night that she went to doctor, who sent her to another ten doctors to check what was wrong with her. They told her she had artrosis, they told her she had problems with vains, they told her she was very obese and that she was slowly killing herself…

At this point many people would start thinking, how to change their lifestyle, how to make the things better as there is still chance but what did she do? Easy – she didn't care, she didn't believe it would be so bad. She didn't stop smoking, she didn't change her diet, she didn't start moving her body, she simply didn't change anything. Why would she? It would be too hard, too time consuming … she was born fat like she used to say so it should stay like this. Now, at the age of almost 40 her body is in condition like a body of 65 years old retired woman and this all thanks to her laziness…

Why are there so many people out there commiting slowly suicide thanks to their laziness?

  • uhm... interesting blog and comments :)

I'd like to add just that I totally get what you mean in your blog and I can understand also that probably the word 'lazy' in that context sounds a lil bit controversial, since we're living in "The Age of the Euphemisms". For that reason, even if it might sound 'impolite' to use that word, I can't be hypocrite rebuking that because I hate euphemisms and I like the way you're always straightforward in your opinions (and ofc, i don't feel you're trying to offend anyone)

Another thing that came to my mind reading your blog is a quote I always have in mind every time I feel like 'complaining' about my problems. It's a sentence said by the great author and 'spiritual guru' Alejandro Jodorowsky and says something very simple and true: "We only have the problems we want to have". I really believe that, most of the times, it's really like that. But it's more easy just to complain and look for excuses.

  • Eva,
it is ok omg :D calm down ...I described by this things society and other people's behaviour - it wasn't like m doing this... people are mean thats the point :/ anyway, your this judging thing made me think and I started discussion here :D Hope it won't be too controversial :p
  • A realistic reminder. laziness is a one crucial enemy to us, once it takes control we will be having all sorts of mental and physical problems. And it is devastating. Thank u for sharing this important truth.

  • Dear Eva,
I didn't get why you took this message like I am judging somebody as it wasn't my intention at all. My message I wanted to deliver via this blog was that people don't take things seriously and despite alarming situation like serious health problems...they don't care. Pointing out at laziness and I know many people who are just complaining but DO NOTHING that's also my main idea. I know this woman very well and let me add it was real alarming story and honestly NO I won't defend obese people who have no psycho problem but just like and enjoy eating, sitting on their asses and crying they are fat... sorry to say it but I feel sth else from your comment than just this what you expressed here..hard to say, what's behind it :/
  • Bill,
thanx for reading this real story, in fact I would say she had no willpower to do something! To me it is all related to laziness, nah? Where does motivation come from??? You gotta be active, creative - these are oposites of being lazy.. I like your French saying and I do agree with it :) stop showing you know also other languages, it looks like boasting and promoting yourself :D
  • This is a brilliantly written prose where we can see a better lesson to learn about life. I think that the word "Lazy" is a put-down on ourselves that is to say that this person can't do anything else except being lazy but she did other things than thinking of losing her weight like giving birth ,enjoying parties..etc. I like to call it that way "she is unmotivated to lose her extra kilos" instead, because there is a possible reason behind her laziness as she didn't do something constructive in her life, she didn't think much about it, she was careless and she had no goal to achieveWe are all motivated by things we want to do, or enjoy doing. There is a French known proverb and I quote "Qui ne tente rien n'a rien" which means "nothing ventured, nothing gained", she did nothing, not even a move, so she doesn't have to expect a miracle to happen and even if she tried for the first time, the result may not have to come overnight. and I sum up with this saying "Good things come to those who work their asses off and never give up" :)
