What is The Hymn Of Your Country?

A Hymn ,as far as I am concerned, means the national song of a country that prises the country and its principles. A hymn represents the country in political issues i.e: when there is a world conference or a summit to discuss serious issues. It also represents the country in sports events such as the olympic games or world cup. And according to a google search, wikipedia:

"A hymn is a type of song, usually religious, specifically written for the purpose of praise, adoration or prayer, and typically addressed to a deity or deities, or to a prominent figure or personification. The word hymn derives from Greek ὕμνος (hymnos), "a song of praise". Collections of hymns are known as hymnals or hymnbooks."

And since we are part of this social network and each one of us belong to a different part on this earth, I want you to provide us with the words of the hymn of your Country mainly that when we hear it at a special event we only hear the music without understanding what is it about.

In this respect Here is the hymn of my Country, The Knigdom of Morocco:

Fountain of Freedom
Source of Light
Where sovereignty and safety meet,
Safety and sovereignty
May you ever combine!
You have lived among nations
With title sublime,
Filling each heart,
Sung by each tongue,
Your champion has risen
And answered your call.
For your soul and your body,
The victory they have conquered.
In my mouth
And in my blood
Your breezes have stirred
Both light and fire.
Up! my brethren,
Strive for the highest.
We call to the world
That we are here ready.
We salute as Our emblem
God, Homeland, and King.

Honestly, I was unable to translate it from Arabic Language to English Languge because most of its words belong to Standard Arabic and one needs a lots of efforts to provide the right translation in order that words won't lose their true meaning.

***** the translation was taken from wikipedia.

  • My country's anthem's lyrics are available at wikipedia. If someone is interested, can check it from there. :)

Here I just copy the Literal translation into English from wikipedia.

My fatherland, my joy and happiness,
    How beautiful you are!
I shall not find such ever
    In this huge wide world
Which would be so dear to me
    As you, my fatherland!

    You have given me birth
    And raised me up;
    I shall thank you always
And remain faithful to you 'til death,
To me most beloved are you,
    My precious fatherland!

    May God watch over you,
    My precious fatherland!
    Let Him be your defender
    And provide bountiful blessings
    For whatever you undertake,
    My precious fatherland!

And I'd like to add that I dislike everything too patriotic, religious... and such.

But I think that my country's hymn actually isn't too bad... although it contains words like god... It doesn't appear too religious to me...

Definitely, I can agree with these 3 lines in it..

    You have given me birth
    And raised me up;
    I shall thank you always

I can agree with the idea, to be thankful for my fatherland for bringing me up... as well, or as bad it have done it.. Same like being thankful for own parents.. etc.

I hate meaningless praising. And for religions.. I guess I give damn for any of them.

Hymn should praise, your homeland because it's your homeland. Therefore words like

My fatherland, my joy and happiness,
    How beautiful you are!
I shall not find such ever

    are ridiculous.

Today when I was cycling out from town, I saw so many ugly garbage beside of road under the forest.. So I can't say that it's beautiful. I saw someone had put up a big sing.. that was read "IDIOT, this is not garbage dump!" The word idiot was painted with red capitals... Well I guess Idiot don't know that he's idiot because just little further there were piles of black bags of garbage everywhere near to road.. Maybe the sing should say "Smartest guy", instead of idiot.. Well I don't know.

Yeah doe's a country of idiots really deserve to have a Hymn?
I guess, that I at least might not deserve it, because all I do is whinge. ;)
