What I have gained today...2

Today this beggar learnt some new stuff from the kind teacher, here:

prolific, productive, fruitful and feracious

prolific: abundant growth, generation. <a prolific composer>

It can mean fruitful but one can be prolific and have bad material (not fruitful)

productive: usually means good results.

fruitful: So creates lots of good stuff = fruitful

feracious: Unabridged Dictionary (means it is very rarely used), producing abundantly : prolific, fruitful <a world so feracious, teeming with endless results — Thomas Carlyle>

Mickey: I have wrote 67 blogs now.

Teacher: Yes, you are prolific.

M: grinning~

T: a blog a minute

M: Hahaha. Oh, prolific = fruitful?

T: Not necessarily

M: = productive?

T: Marked by abundant inventiveness or productivity <a prolific composer>

Yes productive as I used it. It can mean fruitful but one can be prolific and have bad material     (not fruitful)

M: How about fruitful?

T: Usually means good results also

So creates lots of good stuff = fruitful

M: Productive can mean good and bad results?

T: Prolific can

A person can write a lot of books but if they are all bad it isn't very fruitful

Productive in 1 sense = produce a lot

M: Productive can mean good and bad results? no?

T: Usually just good

    Our meeting wasn't very productive

M: How about feracious?

T: I probably should have used "abundant growth, generation" definition of prolific rather than productive

   Ferocious, with an O?

M: Feracious=fruitful

T: Feracious? I know Ferocious but it doesn't mean that.

M: No feracious? but I saw it before~

T: Yes Unabridged Dictionary (means it is very rarely used). It was in the 1913 dictionary.

It means  producing abundantly : prolific, fruitful <a world so feracious, teeming with endless results — Thomas Carlyle>

Probably because it is too close to ferocious, people stopped using it.

M: Hehehe

I didnt know that. just pick up any word I dont know or I like
