Hello, my dear members of EC!
Today I have a wonderful mood and want to share it with every person in the world. The reason for it is my today’s lesson, which I gave for my ten-year-old students. You know this digital generation. They’re crazy about laptops, computer games, robots and so on. The theme of the lesson was “My favourite things”. And just for a change I offered them the video and the song from the musical “The Sound of Music” (1965). A young woman Mary sings about the things she loves, such as ‘raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens’. These are the things she selects to fill her mind with when times are bad. To my surprise my digital generation students liked the song a lot. So I decided to share it with you just to pass you some positive energy. There’re two variants, one of them is with the lyrics. The song is sung by Julie Andrews.

Hello, FARES!
Thanks for reading my blog. I'm glad that you liked it. But why will you ask yourself later? Don't you know the things you like? Ok, I'll wait your next reply....it's very interesting to know your favourite things.
Have a nice day!

Hello, Asma!
When I've read your comment I suddenly realize that sometimes I do the same when I feel sad. So, you're not crazy....I think it's a common thing for many women of different ages and in different countries. Some women try on their clothes, others prefer going shopping. I think it's the best way for women to lighten their mood. And, of course, eating something delicious.....what can be better? ( crisp apple strudels). Thanks, Asma, for such positive comment...even reading it I'm feeling more cheerful.
One of my favourite things is flowers....Hope you love them, too. Now it's the time for tulips in Russia...beautiful spring flowers...
Wish you spring bright mood....
Hi Prostomolotova Galina,
If I tell what I do when I feel bad you will laugh :D
Well I open the refrigerator for more than once then open the treasury and look at all my clothes, sometimes I try one after the other .Or hear the music with high voice.Really I'm crazy :/
Thanks so much for the nice blog.
Hello, Ha!
I’m so glad that you feel the same as I am…..I guite agree with you that it’s like in a fairy-tale…..absolutely charming! I also adore the voice…it’s so unusual in our modern world…so melodious, pleasant…I found this song a week ago and listen to it every day now. It’s so great that other people have the same opinion and believe in fairy-tales and miracles. Thanks a lot for your comment, Ha!
Have a miraculous weekend!
Hello Cold Moon!
Thank you very much for your comment. It’s really interesting to know what different people do not to feel so bad. You’ve done a detailed analysis! Wow! I also try to think about something pleasant, especially about good people. I’m very glad that you liked the song…….I simply adore it. Thanks once more.
Have a wonderful day!

Hello Nida!
You can’t believe but when I first heard this fascinating song I also said “ WOW!” Maybe because this song is from a fairy-tale…..and I simply adore all wonders and miracles (and it seems you, too….). Thanks for the comment.
Hello Anele!
Thanks for such amazing comment. You can’t imagine, but I haven’t heard about this famous movie and this song before. I feel even uncomfortable realizing that it’s a very well-known movie. I found it in Internet preparing for the lesson. I was immediately fascinated both with the words and the music. They seem so simple but they affect me greatly (some magic power). So I decided to give it to my students. And I’m glad that my students appreciated it. It’s great that children from different countries, in different times love this song. It’s real classic.
Anele, thanks for telling me some details from the movie. It’s really very interesting for me. And special thanks for sharing with such other wonderful song from this movie “I Must Have Done Something Good”. I’ve listened to it…..it’s amazing! So simple again, but so romantic and lovely….
“Nothing comes from nothing.
Nothing ever could”. so beautiful…..!
“Somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good”. very nice….!
Now I’m going to see the movie as soon as I have free time…..thanks for sharing!
I agree that it would be great to exchange our experience ……
Thank you…….!
Galina
Gabriel, thanks a lot for such supportive comment. I’m very glad to hear that you approve my approach in teaching. You’re right I try to use different methods, different ideas. You’re right again that while listening and singing practically all students learn the names of all Mary’s favourite things and started to use these words in speech.
I’m very grateful to you for the poem “Teachers!” by Kevin William Huff. It is so true.
Thanks once more for all your warm wishes.
Galina
WoW!!
Dear Galian!
It’s nice to know that you had a very enjoyable time teaching your students which eventually clothed you in this “wonderful mood”. Thank you for sharing your delight and the positive energy with us!
I couldn’t agree more! This approach, using multimedia products, offers many advantages - it’s far entertaining from the conventional method: "Chalk & Blackboard" or "Marker & Whiteboard"
- The children will be, undeniably, enthralled by the song and music.
(This may even help the quiet students who usually fight shy of speaking.)
- They will learn new words and pronunciation as an indirect result.
- It will help both the teacher and students to broaden the topic of discussion in hand, etc.
I think you’ve successfully created an adaptation of “The Sound of Music”. I’m very proud of you! Keep up the good work, my Dear!
TEACHERS!
By Kevin William Huff
Teachers
Paint their minds
and guide their thoughts; Share their achievements
and advise their faults!
Inspire a Love
of knowledge and truth
As you light the path
Which leads our youth!
For our future brightens with each lesson you teach;
Each smile you lengthen
Each goal you help reach!
For the dawn of each poet
each philosopher and king
Begins with a Teacher
And the wisdom they bring!
May God Bless You Teacher Galina!
Warm Regards,
