Because your habits and your mother language each one must pay attention to differents things. For example when I started to study english I was puzzled for the expretion "fall in love", because when you fall you usually become hurt. I don't know, maybe they believe that get hurt, is a necessary condition. I'm not sure about it.Besides, in spanish we don't pay attention. We loan attention. It's quite a difference. Or maybe not. What did shock you when you started to study english.
I think that what shocked me in English at first , It was the countless verb tenses there are in the English language I believe. Main the feared Present Perfect tense and its usages.Oh, my God!!! The more I think, in a second look, the several phrasal verbs and prepositions not mentioning its combinations with other prepositions, adverbs, nouns and sure adjectives that is, prepositions are a "BIG" problem at first glance, for foreigner learners of English. But over the time, you are uncovering these aspects by yourself and understanding them with lots of practice so that at the end, you can even think that things are more easy than before.
Hi Syed Faisal Ali, well this is funny. You have caught me. I just wanted to include something nice and romantic because I was talking about love. Ok, it is my fault. See you later.
Yes, I can understand you both. IEnglish is an amazing language. In spanish you have to remember each conjugation for each pronoun and time. It's incredibly simpler to separate the pronoun the verb and the auxiliar. I feel sorry for the people who has to learn spanish.
Nice topic Sakr! Everyone has one's own experience. While learning English, many things surprised me(and my teachers too!--At my answers).some o them are as under:
1- pronunciation as "But" and "Put"
2-Homonyms as "Wait" and "weight"
3-Idioms such as"To rain cats and dogs" and "To kick the bucket".
4-Words that are verb and nouns simultaneously
5-Difficulty in spellings learning
and much much more(The shocking is still continued)
