Did you ever wonder why some of the blogs were featured while others not? If so, you have a lot of company.
When the blog is thought to be worth recommending
When the admin or blog mod thinks a blog is worth recommending or reading, the blog will be featured. Featured blogs are usually well written, interesting/fun, useful or helpful.
Featured blogs don't have to be flawless or perfect
You may have found there were even mistakes (grammar, spelling, or other) in the featured blogs. It's quite possible, and we don't think there's such thing as flawless or perfect. Even native English teachers make mistakes, though.
Featured blogs are not always written by active members
Sometimes they're written by beginners or newbies. It's not uncommon that a newbie's first ever blog here was featured - it means they have just written only one blog, but the blog was featured.
Your blog could have been missed and failed to be featured
Sorry, some of the blogs were missed. The admin or blog mod could have missed your blog or just failed to include your blog on the list of the featured blogs - they may have found your blog was worth recommending but just somehow forgotten to.
Featured or not featured? - 'Big deal?' or 'Who cares?'. Yes, you got it! So, just keep writing or blogging. Have fun!

Yes, it's up to the admin or blog mod to feature which blog. They'll just feature whatever they think deserves to be featured - some people may call it 'bias'.

I like your blog although I cannot accept the justice of the referee(s), and also don't accept to justify that by saying "a blog could have been missed and failed to be featured". (a few blogs is acceptable to be failed due to the forgetting, but not many blogs).

I don't want to say why this blog has been featured (perhaps it is related to a newbie and it has done for encouraging him). But I want to say there are many and many blogs, which have been written so nice and a strong thought has been behind them, but they have been failed to be featured.
It is not acceptable to me, but no matter, It is only I who has had problem with this matter and not others :)

Featured or not featured? It is not a big deal for me. The essential things, I can express my thoughts, my feeling as well as I can learn everything from reading a blog.
The featured blog actually can prompt a bloggers to write more interesting, usefull or worth topic. I don’t say they didn’t, but I need to emphasize that this is a stimulant factor, in my view.
I wanna go with noa's comment. Yes, when for the first time one of my blogs was featured and when I became star member, I was so happy. I got encouragement to write more. But for a long time I have no featured blog without writing challenge. So, I am thinking about it and wanna write a good blog.
I believed for some new members/bloggers of EC, 'featured blog' is a way of encouragement to write more. Maybe for 'season' EC bloggers or active members, 'featured blog' had lost its lustre, but I hope more new members to be have their blogs be featured.

I know we may have failed to feature some blogs that you think should be featured. Sorry if we failed to feature any such blog.
In fact, there's no rigorous standard here about what blog should be featured. Just keep blogging. We should learn how to encourage ourselves to read and write more.
