WEIRD THINGS WE'VE LEFT ON THE MOON

Yeap, it seems it's not enough for the human being to leave junk on the Planet Earth. We've to ruin the moon as well! :P
"It's estimated that we've left nearly 400,000 pounds of stuff on the moon over the course of dozens of human and uncrewed missions".  Most of the objects are simply old spacecrafts, probes and rockets that crashed into the moon's surface, but there are also some 'weird' things, such as:

-96 Bags of urine and feces
Ewwwwww! Look out where you step on the moon!! hehe

-12 pairs of space boots
As if astronauts were shoes' fashion victims! haha  ---"Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin lightened their load by leaving behind about 100 objects they no longer needed. The stash included space boots, cameras, tools, and film".

-2 golf balls
It seems that one of the Apollo14 mission's astronaut was a 'golf compulsive player' :P

-A falcon feather
If you drop a feather and a hammer at the same time on the moon's surface, what would land first? That's what an astronaut from the Apollo15 wondered himself. Both objects landed at the same time and the astronaut didn't bother to pick up the feather. Another 'unconfirmed' rumor (more cool, and made up by myself) is that a falcon was lost and it flew too far  :D

-A photo of an astronaut's family
I guess many of us have wished sometime to send a member of our family or some of our acquaintances there too :P

So now, the inevitable question for all the EC members who are taking their time reading this post would be:   WHAT PERSONAL OBJECT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAVE ON THE MOON, IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO DO THAT?

  • Interesting blog, thanks for sharing. Because I don't want to be accused of polluting the moon, so I would leave nothing. :D

  • A few years ago I came up with the idea of putting a Starbucks on the moon. After doing my research, it didn't pan out. It seems the locals much prefer tea over coffee and I just couldn't turn a profit off of venti chai tea lattes (coffee being the volume business that it is) so I had to can the moon idea. With all that being said, the idea occurred to me that Martians drink more coffee per capita than anyone here on Earth. Why not think beyond the moon? With my own investment portfolio looking a little thin, the hunt for financial backing began. I gave Josef first crack at the concept. He politely refused stating he much preferred keeping his pounds under his mattress and right here in Joe's Café. Luckily, at the last moment, Richard Branson came through and as they say, "The rest is history.".
