I thought this was about comics with women/girls as main characters (I remarked in my comment: "my fav 'comic girl'" -but I've to correct myself here because my most fav still is Mafalda)
Anyway, now that you mention 'Calvin & Hobbes', I think Susie Derkins deserved a comic strip just for herself. Right? :)

My fav 'comic girl' now is Sarah Andersen (some ppl in EC knows that already, since I've 'tortured' them with some blogs based on her stories) Her comic is based on herself and her daily routine and thoughts. I can recognize myself in some of her stories because, even if she's femenine, she's not too 'girly'; she's also kind of childish sometimes and a mess! haha
And sharing a similar job, I can tell about many of the job stuff she talks about too :P
