  • Hi Mr. Bob! Glad to hear you enjoyed my recordings. Those roosters are my neighbor's. I also like hearing them. They serve as my clock. :) And Yes, I agree with you, Mr. Bob! It feels homey when they're around than hearing the burly hurly of the city life. Bet, you miss your home very much now. :) Have a great weekend!

  • This is wonderful Mayumi.  I enjoyed your recordings and hearing the neighborhood chickens in the background made me wish I lived outside the city again. Why is it that chickens make me feel at home, while sounds of cars and trucks disturb my rest?

  • Hello Dear Rob:

  • Hi my sweet Mayumi,

Good job, for tracking your progress! I agree with you, listening to our old recordings will help us determine what and how we can improve our spoken English. Keep up the good work! I can hear your slang. : )

    Best wishes,

    Robbie

  • stock (ˈstɑk) vs stuck (ˈstək)

    fought (ˈfɔt)

    bought (ˈbɔt)

    audio (ˈɔdiːˌoʊ)

    audio

Thank you very much, Ms. T for the links specially the minimal pairs..This is very useful for me. :)

  • This recording gave me goosebumps! What a great idea. It's very true that you can track your progress through voice blogs. You have been working so hard in the Audio Speaking Group. Thank you for all you do to encourage members on MyEC! A few more people seem to have jumped on board the voice blog train thanks to active members like you.

    3 Tips:

    1. Practise this minimal pair: "stock" and "stuck" (stuck rhymes with luck).

    2. Also the past tense of fight ("fought") sounds like "bought", "thought", "hot".

Finally, the word "audio" has three distinct syllables. AW/dee/oh

    Cheers,

    Tara

  • Dearest Ate Anele,

Oh! I don't believe that. Your voice is a like a gift to your students..They are really lucky to have you. Even you are yelling it's still sound a melody to them. Hmmm, I can say it because when I had my favourite teacher before even she was yelling I could still hear her goodness, kindness and concerns for her students..Even she was on top of her voice telling a sermon still I could feel her sincerity that what she wanted was only to correct us... And I could say it is only what you want for them too, cos you are a good teacher too..

Hmm,perfect 10?? Oh my..I still have a long way to go. But thanks 'Te Anele. It boosts my liking to improve more and more. And about the roosters..Hehehe they are like that..They always want to be "extra" every time I have a "shootings". You know I also wonder too. These roosters of my neighbors are always crowing all the time...I mean round the clock! Morning, afternoon and at dawn. Good thing, my dog aren't barking now. She has learned not to compete with the roosters..:)

  • Dearest Teacher Hala,

Oh thanks for your compliment, teacher..I must admit I am not really confident in my speaking specially in public ( I mean in the public outside ). That's why I have a thought a ways how to overcome this. I'm still working on it bit by bit..:)

  • Hi Ate Maia, Wow! That's so sweet nickname! :) I like it sooo much..."Yumi"

Yep, it's very true first setting goal and positive attitude on our English goal then we can achieve it sooner than we think. Something that I heard from somewhere that 80% of being successful in learning English or any language is the positive attitude and the remaining 20% is the method, books, etc.. It means one's self attitude comprises the big portion of his learning...Self-driven and extra patient are one's qualities that leap him an extra miles...

Thanks for your comment. I have read your blog..One Thursday Night..It's really amazing narrative story! The scenes are very vivid and heart pumping..You are a good writer. Please keep writing for us...:)
