Often test takers wonder which is one to choose between IELTS /TOELF and PTE Academic. Some people feel IELTS simple and easy and at the same time some people opine that the PTE Academic is easier test than IELTS. Most of the test takers are influenced by their family and friends while deciding between both. We would like to express our views on PTE Academic and IELTS tests both.
When you should opt for PTE Academic?
1. If you are more comfortable using computer than pen & paper.
2. When have limited time for university or PR assessment deadlines.
3. If you have already given IELTS/TOEFL multiple times.
4. If you are a PR aspirant only willing to go to Australia, New Zealand.
If you are more comfortable with computer than Pen & Paper :
PTE Academic is a computer based test, where speaking happens with the help of microphone, writing will be with keyboard, reading to be done on computer screen and listening is through headphones. If you feel you lost touch with pen and paper then take PTE Academic.
When you have limited time for university or PR assessment deadlines.
When your university intake demands English proficiency scores & if you have limited time like 15-20 days or less than that it is better to opt for PTE Training than other test. By opting for PTE Academic you can schedule your test on any near date usually the dates are available in most of the metro and tier-2 cities.
In case if you don’t get sufficient score in the first attempt you can retake the test as they supply results within 5 working days ( We have seen 70% of my test takers getting results in 24 hours). For PR aspirants whose ACS is expiring soon can take PTE Academic than any other test for the same & obvious reasons.
If you have already given IELTS/TOEFL multiple times
If you have given IELTS and TOEFL multiple times and you lost hope or you are not so upbeat about getting the score in the same test, you can certainly try PTE Academic. But make sure you are you are clear about your strengths and weaknesses with the test which you attempted multiple times.
If you are a PR aspirant only willing to go to Australia, New Zealand as PTE Academic is only valid only for these 2 countries PR applications.
If you are decided to go to only Australia / New Zealand & convinced with above 3 reasons mentioned in this article go for PTE Academic. Most of the PR aspirants want to keep their options until last minute, majority of the PR seekers in India want to apply for Australia, Canada PR
simultaneously. In such case if you are taking PTE Academic it will be only useful for your Australia PR and not for Canada PR. You may have to take IELTS separately for Canada PR application sake.
Our advice is any first time test-taker targeting both country PR process should try IELTS first as it will serve the purpose for both.
