It makes me truly sad to see the English Club chat room so empty these days. I joined EC back in 2019, and at that time, the main chat room was always full of activity. People from all around the world were chatting, helping each other, and learning English together. If you messaged someone, you would get a reply within seconds. There was a real sense of community and support, especially for those who were just starting their English learning journey.

This website used to be an incredibly useful and productive platform for new learners. One of the best things about it was the chance to speak directly with native English speakers, which helped many of us improve our speaking and writing skills. It was more than just a website it was a place where people connected, learned, and grew together.

Unfortunately, times have changed. Many people are leaving the site, and one of the main reasons is that the platform hasn't kept up with modern needs and expectations. Technology is always evolving, and platforms must adapt to survive. We’ve seen many big tech companies fail because they didn’t change with the times a famous example is Nokia, which was once a leader in mobile phones but fell behind due to a lack of innovation.

So, with all respect and sincerity, I offer my humble advice to the management team and the owners of this wonderful platform: please consider updating and modernizing the site. One of the most important steps you could take is to launch a mobile application, similar to WhatsApp or other popular messaging apps. Having a mobile app would allow users to stay connected easily and chat on the go, making the community more active and engaged once again.

This platform has so much potential, and I believe it can still be a great place for learners around the world  but only if it evolves with the times. I hope this message reaches the right people, and I wish the best for the future of the English Club.

  • there was the time when many members engaged in chatting in the chat room, it was hard to read what you chatted and what was you responded. At that time I used to look for the time when there is calm and tranquility in the chat room. Mid-night or early morning.  So to me it was not a big loss,  the silence on blog section and discussion forum are real concerns for learners who wish to  practice in formal writing either through blogging or commenting on blogs and discussion.

However I vote for your idea i.e. launching a mobile application.

  • The points you offered are agreeable and considerable, but to the best of my humble observation on members, they are also held responsible for it's downfall. This site used to nominate stars amongst active members every month, the members nominated as star fell in to superiority and hardly commented on bloggers post. Communication gap widened led to it's downfall. Perhaps I am wrong.

  • I do agree with you! sir. I have joined this site since 2011. I got plenty of moments. I miss a lot of old members tho. SHAH MICKEY ANELE WMW PEARL AND OTHERS. PLEASE COME BACK!

  • I completely agree with you. This was once the best place to learn and teach English. Sometimes I feel neither Mr Joseph himself nor members are anymore interested in keeping this wonderful website alive. I think we can't do anything to make MyEC active again.

  • HI,  NICE THOUGHTS SHARE, GOOD TO SEE YOU.

  • Hum....I will love too see more people around but I think not only in chat room but also there is less participation and engagement in blogging section too.

  • hi, i have been here for long time, yeah I agree with you, hopefully this website is getting alive and more active again
