synonyms of robber or thief!

Two days ago, I heard a thug tried to unlatch one of our neighbor's main door. Most probably his intention was robbery. Hearing this piece of information, I became numb and amazed. But, I had no idea that it was not the first incident. Before it, a robber twisted their backdoor but could not open it. Then he sent this sniper who became successful to step into the main entrance.

After that I have been wondering how a man/woman has become a killer or housebreaker! Once, a group of pirates intruded into our farm house. It was a dark night. so, no one watched them to break in. In the beginning, village people took them as bandits but later they identified as pirates who crossed the river besides our territory.

Do you know some people like to steal or crook without any reason? Most of them are shoplifter. And, nowadays it is treated as a disease and known as' Kleptomania'

Beside it, Some people live their life as rustler. Specially, during any festival the number of cattle thieves increases.

I think, people should be careful walking in the street at late night. Because a hijacker could snatch their costly items.  My husband also faced it, a mugger took his wallet and watch when he was a student.

And, one thing more, we should be careful about our purses and back pockets when we do travel in public transport. There is much more possibility to see the pick pockets!

  • You are a smart writter. Now i know many synonyms of theif or robber.
  • Donnobad afro, I have deleted my first comment and corrected the word "walled" with the correct one "wallet" Sorry for that mistake. I borrowed it from my friend Ripon. He used to like Dario Argento too.

  • Kimon acho Afro. I was robbed twenty years ago. I was in a queue waiting for my turn to have a ticket to see The Cat O' Nine Tails. I was concentrating on how to get my ticket and see the master of the horror movies, Dario Argento when a man took my wallet from my pocket. I had to borrow some money to watch the film.

  • Okay, Smith, thanks for your prompt reply. I really appreciate it otherwise I would have been thinking whereas I did a big mistake with this word. Well, I will try to rename it!

  • @Afro

You used the word 'mugger' correctly, but the title 'Thud of a thug!' doesn't make so much sense to me.

  • Thanks @ Adaline!

@ Smith, thanks a lot. Really thud is a low pitch sound? And, then what about mugger? did I use it wrongly?

  • I thought this blog was for the confusing words challenge when I first saw the title.

By the way, a thud is a low sound - you could have used 'pound' or 'punch' instead.

And, I could have used the word 'mugger' in the blog 'The smuggler was holding a mug':))
