The 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte paved his way to a bizarre stardom. As he promised and sworn that he will kill ten thousands of drug addicts/users, drug traffickers/pushers, and drug lords in his territorial jurisdiction. He assumed office last June, roughly more than two months ago but tremendously showed how serious he is to his promise. Supporters and detractors agreed in one thing that he is exceedingly effective. For a very short period, over one thousand five hundred people have been killed related to his pledge to his countrymen. He encouraged law enforcement to be extra rigid, that kill suspects associated with drugs if they resist. Police force wage and benefits will be increased and assure that the department will be known professionally, that the people will look at them with integrity and respect, unlike the previous regimes that masses were unease to ask police assistance thinking that even person in authorities has no difference to crime doers.
The public can’t disparage him, he is a lawyer, he served the highly urbanized city, Davao for 2 decades, he never loses a single election he joined from the past until he meets the presidency. In fact, he doesn’t want to run for it; the populace pushed him to sign up for candidacy. What a fate.
I talked to my friends in the Philippines, how was it going there now, and according to them they feel safer, they can come home late from work, there is a curfew so that delinquents are scared to show their faces to the roaming law enforcers. Crimes against innocent citizens are lessened, the terrible offense made by so-called addicts decreases, heinous felony such as rape and murder can be prevented, but not totally diminish. Emergency Network Philippines or famously known as 911, the national emergency telephone number for the Philippines provides services to people in case of emergency or any public complaint that need immediate assistance is now attending the public as part of the President’s campaign against crime. The funny thing was, some childish and inane callers making fun out of it and producing ridiculous calls/complaints which are pure fabricated. Still, change came.
On the other hand, human rights’ advocates declared this sensational execution as a form of extra-judicial killings. Wait a minute; tell me CHR, what is an extra-judicial killing? Well, CHR is unreachable for me now. Haha. “An extrajudicial killing is the killing of a person by governmental authorities without the sanction of any judicial proceeding or legal process. Extrajudicial punishments are mostly seen by humanity to be unethical since they bypass the due process of the legal jurisdiction in which they occur”, said google. Extrajudicial punishment and forced disappearances have been allegedly thrown to the nation’s father and needless to say that he is crystal-clear guilty for these activities.
The question here is, which right is more vital, the right of the victims of drug-related individuals or the right of drug-related individuals?
I’m impartial to this issue because I’m pro-life but against law-breaking acts. For this, just brief information about my beloved country… Thanks for reading guys! God bless us all!

  • @Mr. RK, yes he is indeed serious about this campaign of fight against drugs. Thanks for commenting always to my blogs, though I didn't reply as quick as possible, I'm really happy that there is someone like you who likes my writings. Thank you and God bless!

  • @Mr. Estanis, thanks for stopping by, I respect how you see things based on your principle, to be honest I'm also pro-life individual, but sometimes due to some circumstances I was compelled to made forceful action to solve things out... if the situation asked for it. But as mush as possible, I'm trying my best to maintain a peaceful life. However, we can't deny the fact that there are people who organize destruction to others. Anyway, thanks a lot for giving your precious views about the matter.

Additional info, just yesterday our President announced that wearing mini-skirts in public are not allowed anymore, the sorts are enticing men to fantasize to women and may lead to a serious law-breaking act.

Thanks a lot and God bless!

  • @noaslpls, thank you for commenting on my blog, though I don't know you that much, I really appreciate that you bothered to take a look with my writings. That's our President cry, that we should protect innocent people from danger of this drug syndicates, you know, just today he ordered that at early as grade 4 students are bound to learn about drug dangers to humanity.. isn't it nice? Thanks a lot and God bless you!

  • @Uncle rysperski, thanks for reading my not-so-short blog, you nailed it... we are facing the perilous times of our age, this issue must be taken seriously, sometimes this calls for a drastic measure. Willing or not, people will praise or revile our President for having an iron fist, but the end will justify the means-as the famous book once said. Thanks for correcting me (most of the time) and giving me points on how to excel in my grammar.. Thanks a lot Sir.

  • I've heard of it in news but don't support your president policy or anyone who is for capital punishment. It doesn't work to improve our societies.

Thank you for for let us know Risty.
  • Hmm ... human rights advocates should advocates the rights of majority. And the majority is the victims of those horrendous criminals. I salute your new president for trying to eradicate the problem. I hope he's successful.

  • Oi ms Risty,

Although I am not a supporter of killing and alike attrocities, yet I would not totally condemn your president.

Firstly...drug peddlers are veru dangerous for the wellfare of any society and secondly, drug addicts create even a bigger hazard in the society...they would do the most henious deed just to get their dose of drugs.

In this case I would not call the death penalty a punishment, but rather an act of self defence...defent my beloved ones and friends form drug peddlers and their irresponsible and unpredictable clients.
