This blog post is dedicated to a 'troublemaker' comma that is kind of controversial (and I love controversial topics!)
Who doesn't wanna learn some grammar on weekends?! Noone!, right? :D
So this is me coming right in time, one more time. Let's go!
The Oxford Dictionary describes the Oxford Comma (aka 'serial comma') as "an optional comma before the word 'and' at the end of a list."
Not to use the Oxford comma can sometimes cause strange misunderstandings:
"I love my parents, Lady Gaga and Obama."
Without the Oxford comma, this sentence could be interpreted as stating that you love your parents, and your parents are Lady Gaga and Obama! Here is the same sentence with the Oxford comma:
"I love my parents, Lady Gaga, and Obama."
This is an optional grammar use, but for me it makes pretty much sense, so I'm totally for the Oxford comma use. But still, there are many people who reject to use the Oxford comma because they feel it like an 'offense' to write a comma before the conjuction 'and' :D
So, what do you think? Are you FOR or AGAINST the Oxford comma?
Thanks for reading!

Onee-chan! You're so advanced student that your answer made me think! :D
I didn't realized that ortographic symbols like comma are used in latin script's language but not in many others languages like yours! Doh!
I've always wanted to learn a non latin script's language (like cyrillic) but I think it's sooo difficult! I really admire people like you, who are able to understand 2 alphabets! :)
Wowoww!! MARY is teaching here...?? *kidding....:D
But, I am indeed a smart student in this comma rule. LOL....
I learnt about it when I was a junior high school student. It is the same with my native. kekeke... Mostly, this comma or other punctuation are a bit confusing for those who do not use alphabet (abc) in their native. So, it is indeed a very useful blog.
Claps for MARY! :D ^^
Mohammad, maybe that was a problem for Hamlet, but for me the answer is easy: TO BE. Always To Be!
Thanks for dropping by!
informative blog(,) Mary ,,, to be or not to be that is the question :)
Thanks for sharing.
LUCI! So you're not just against the Oxford comma but against all kind of comma? hahaha
Cool crazy you! :D
abiba, nice! :)
Thank you ⓔⓡⓩⓐ! You're very sweet ^_^
I really appreciate your comment!
haha Elen! What a funny comma-joke! :D
If we usually have problems using the ordinary comma, just imagine trying to use the Oxford comma! :D
Thanks for your comment! ^_^
Eva!!
Yeap, 'teaching' grammar on weekend... I like hard challenges! :D
So funny and cute of you saying that you use standard comma 'by impulse' hahaha... Actually, I think that's what we all do at the end, but just few brave people like you don't mind to admit it :D
Thanks a heap for your comment ^_^
Dear Mary! You came again with an interesting topic! Yes, comma makes a sentence have sense. Such grammatical errors can be reasons to be misunderstood :D
