THE NIGHTS ARE LONG 

Broken hearts and broken dreams

Woken up to many silent screams

My mind does race without a word

I try to yell but I can’t be heard

I lay awake and cannot sleep

My heart does march to miss a beat

The hours drag, the time so long

I lay to hear a bird’s first song

Another night has been and gone

Another night of what can go wrong

I face the day a bothered sight

I dread the coming of this night

I fear it will happen all again

I subject myself to so much pain

My mind must focus and not stray

I want to win and beat this day

To look at life a different view

Where loves are many and doubts are few

To have a dream or make it real

My heart and mind it shall reveal

To a different life we love the best

Where we no longer feel depressed

Where rainbows break the dawn of day

To chase those clouds of gloom away

Where we don’t fear the setting sun

We sleep so safe in webs we’ve spun

Our web protects us from the harm

And life’s pure sunshine keeps us warm
