The messenger went to the King’s palace, servants and attendants knew the messenger as he is a respectable, virtuous and just man that serves God in his entire life. He waited for the King to come in the luxurious throne room;
it’s not a long time the King came, they sit down to the delicate sofa but its softness didn’t help the King to feel calm, the messenger speak to him, he said,
“There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him. Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him”
The King burned with extreme anger referring to the rich man in the story, and he said, “, “As surely as GOD lives, the man who did this must die! He must pay for that lamb four times over because he did such a thing and had no pity.”
The messenger said to the King, “YOU ARE THE MAN! This is what our God says to you, ‘I anointed you king over a vast land, and I delivered you from the hand of your master. I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I made you grand, abundant and flowing. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. Why did you despise the word of God by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down your soldier with the sword. Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of your upright soldier to be your own.’
“Additionally, our God says, ‘Out of your own palace I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight. You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all your people.’”
The King’s face dejected and he said to the messenger,

Part 4-Punishment and forgiveness

Dear Vangie, you think when a mother saw her child die isn’t a consequence? See, there is no intention for the woman to cheat on her husband, it’s just during the time of the monarchy, it is so difficult to refuse a king. You must know that the lady is an ordinary woman, the norms before weren’t the same as we have now, are we gonna claim we are more civilize and morally correct? Maybe, not for me to say.
Indirect punishment is more painful. How will the King feel the grief of losing someone if it’s him who will be hurt, I think you’ll affirm to the statement that it’s more painful to see your love ones suffering than you yourself. We even asked that our child’s disease pass onto us so the child will not feel any grief or agony, that how love is. I guess.
In my life, (well this is just my opinion) I know God has reasons for everything, for His judgments and He is all fair. He is a no nonsense God.
Thank you so much, my dear Vangie, your curiosity leads to another explanation, I really like this kind of conversation. Btw, in time we will know the answers to our why's. Just a matter of time.
This is what I really like about you, you will not just conform without even thinking, and you think thoroughly.
Yes Elen, of course, dear, see the last part of the story. Please, I would like you to state your opinion about the morals if you think the same thing or not. Feel free... thanks a lot, Elen, you've been reading since the first page, highly appreciated my dear.
Sure Risty, God is fair, I didn't mean that he is cruel. I said that his words were cruel. Maybe it sounds wrong. Anyway, I think you understand how I meant it...
Thanks for following the story my dear Elen, at the end of the story I will state my own opinion about the moral lesson. And hoping for others to state theirs..as well as yours. Stay tune.
Btw, God is not cruel, but a fair God. :)
Dear Sewar, exactly! we are accounted for all of our action in our life. Thanks for dropping by. Stay tune.
Very cruel words of God, but they made the king understood his mistake and sin...
Risty, every time I read the continue, I think that it is the end of the story but when in the end I read again the "to be continued".... ugggg.... you make my curiosity larger!
Btw, you use very nice images :)
Sometimes remorse is not useful. We have to think a lot before any action we decide to take. My friend, no one can deny that; remorse is a heavy burden in our hearts when it happens. So, we have to avoid it as much as we can. God bless you.
