Technology is growing so rapidly that the generation born around 1980 has witnessed countless changes within just a few decades. From black-and-white televisions, they saw the arrival of color TVs, computers, VCRs, CDs, DVDs, USB drives, SD cards—and eventually, smartphones. These devices have gradually replaced many older gadgets like clocks, calculators, radios, and even calendars.
All these innovations have made human life much easier than before. However, while technology has brought convenience, it has also negatively impacted our social lives. Nowadays, when we observe people, we often find that even if you're sitting with them all day, they barely notice you. Their main focus is on mobile games or social media. Online friends have, for many, become more important than the loved ones sitting right beside them.
I once came across a joke that highlights this situation perfectly: A young boy, addicted to his phone, accidentally dropped it in water. Forced to spend a day without it, he had no choice but to interact with his family. The next day, after getting a new phone, he posted on social media:
“Yesterday I spent time with my family. I discovered they are actually good people!”
I joined this platform, EC, in 2019. At that time, the main chat room was full of people engaging in conversations—you never felt bored. But recently, when I returned after a long time, I was saddened to see only two or three people active in the main room throughout the day. This decline might be due to the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI is excellent for learning languages and acquiring knowledge. But it can also feel quite frustrating when we realize we are spending hours talking to emotionless machines. That's why I quit another platform and came back to EC.
In my opinion, human-to-human interaction is a unique and valuable experience. I love learning about different customs and cultures directly from real people around the world. My main goal on social media is to connect with others and learn from their experiences and cultures.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Your comments and likes motivate me to write more.
Thank you in advance!

AI sets a very important question to the whole humanity: it takes several seconds to find huge amount of information, it can create cool content and give lots of ideas. So what's your human role on this lovely planet? Any answers?
Kiya haal hain, Gulzar Hussein? First of all, it has been a long time since I've sent you a message or a greeting. I hope you are doing fine. It is true that we have these smart sets, and they make things easier for us.
On the other hand, in some areas, we suffer a lot. My little girl was putting on her earphones and listening to something. I called, "Fatima, Fatima, Fatima, " for the twentieth time, and no answer. I had to slap her head to attract her attention. Maybe we will get used to it later. Nice topic, Gulzar.
Thanks for reading. Yes, you're right kids are becoming so addicted to these gadgets, and that is very dangerous for their physical and mental health
