I saw it on Ted.com this video, I saw Oksana has Ted's link also, then, here's someone who likes this one: The danger of a single story. Good English, clear voice, beautiful explanation and a remind for all of us to check our ideas from time to time (I know, you don't need it but, what happen with the rest of us?)
I was remembering a story told it by a cinema director: "We were looking for some one which talks in ""African""... finally they've found a man who spokes as they wanted, dark skin, mouth thick, handsome,... This actor talked he was totally surprised when he read the casting announce to find an actor "which can talk "African". Africa is plenty of different languages!! he said; and the best of all, the actor was European too!
Could you understand my joke? I hope it, but it's a true story.
Well, take a look at ted.com and enjoy

THANK YOU OKSANA!!

Your corrections are really welcomed, although I'd need to study more before you can see a real change. Hope you don't feel bored doing this things!
Is there a dog??
x
No Oksana, they didn't mislead nothing they weren't mislead at all %–P. but they've corrected their mistake, so, well done for them!
I agree with you, stereotypes are a mighty weapons. I know I've more than one!
Once a time, long time ago, we were talking with a German man about Germany situation in those moments, he said that the danger weren't in the leftmost or rightmost(?) movements, the danger were just in all people who didn't express their opinion, the "quiet majority"(???). Are you agree?
Could you correct my mistakes? it would be very pleasant of you!
Even though I couldn't help you with your writings I can offer a new link to check some of your mistakes (if you have any!)here. I know you can use it to improve you knowledge.
;–)
I agree. There is quite well known expression about the quiet majority. It says that they are more dangerous than killers and robbers because due to their support all the worst things happen.
Okay, if you don't mind corrections I will make some. ;)
they didn't mislead nothing They weren't misled by this (or at all). There should be used the passive voice. (e.g. I bit a dog. I was bitten by a dog.)
In the active voice it could sound as "Nothing misled them" (like "A dog bit me").
Hope my corrections didn't bite you. ;)
Stereotypes are used as a mighty weapon. That is why journalism on its high level is considered as the fourth power and is referred to as one of the most dangerous professions. This is all about power. And about the power of the truth.
Thanks for sharing that thought-provoking video, Javier.
One of the numerous African languages is called Afrikaans. Probably someone was misled by this similarity. =)
