In the fast changing world, public teaching is also changing. As part of the changes the teachers role and authority in the classroom .
In the past teachers used to be the major source of knowledge ,the leader and educator of their students ,they used to be the authority in the class, but nowadays teachers need to teach their learners how to gain the information and how to select and use them, but the main problem is that the role of the teacher is changing day by day ,and teachers face many problems with the students and their families .The parents blame the teachers for the failure of their kids and for their bad behaviours sometimes . Do you think the teachers role has changed because of the technical changes in the world that makes a teacher not the only source of information or it's the modern educational methods.
I think the student failure is really a teacher failure when a teacher fails to give positive feedback, and fails to use encouragement creatively . Teachers can provide the information and lead the students to the right way of gaining the information and applying it correctly, but students should also work hard to succeed and get high marks .
The question is : who is responsible for the failure of the students ? and why do you think the teacher's authority has changed?

@ Lisa:
Thanks alot for sharing your comment ! it's important to hear a student's point of view .I know that some teachers aren't doing their jobs as it should be ,but also the students should keep their respect to the meaning of the word teacher ,not only to the person itself !
Thanks again and welcome to English Club!
@ Galina:
your comment shows the exact point of the situation of teachers everywhere! I agree with you that education meant to be successful and teachers only have to keep teaching a generation of rejected children who don't understand how to respect teachers .... we keep moving but in the same place . I think teaching is the most important career because it is about building a new generation and that helps in building up better society ,so it needs to be valued and highly respected .
Thank you very much dear for your valuable words which reflect how great teacher you are!
@Expector smith :
Thank a lot dear doctor for featuring my blog ! I really appreciate it !
I agree with you that most teachers nowadays depend on parents ,and that's of course a negative side that the teachers do in the teaching process .
I think the need of a generation of teachers who aim to develop learners instead of teaching them only ,to help the students to become independent ( learning to learn)and provide them with motivation and interests for life-long learning ,is essential in the educational system now.
In my opinion, parents should have a view of what is happening in the schools ,and to follow their kids only ,but not to re-teach everything ,so what is the need for teachers and schools then!
Thanks again for your precious point of view ! Have a nice weekend!
@ Rema :
Thank you for sharing your comment ! I admire that teacher too. I think if teachers can't do their jobs perfectly ,so better to look for another job ..but I don't think teachers are the only ones who are responsible for the failure of students ,because in the same class we can see different levels of students ... with different potential energy and understanding levels ! So I think the students should do their tasks and respect their teachers too .
Thanks again for sharing your point of view ,I appreciate it!
@ Mitran :

Hello, dear Hala!
In your blog, you touched interesting topics concerning understanding between teachers and students. In fact, I'm a student, and therefore support the position of today's students. Teachers often do not give us some necessary things to realize our potential, tell boring ...
But I agree that the teacher first of all - an adult who knows a lot, so he should always be respected.
Teachers are trying to teach us, but we don't learn.
So, thank you for your blog!
Hala, what a wonderful blog! It rises so many questions, ideas. I have been thinking for about an hour before writing a comment. I really was surprised that this situation is common all over the world. I thought it takes place only in Russia. The reason for it is the low teacher's salary compared with other jobs. I thought the situation is different in other countries. In Asian countries teachers are the most respected members of the society ( as it seemed to me) and in America and European countries teachers get high salaries and this profession is rather respected. But as it turned out I was mistaken.
So, who is responsible for the failure of the students and why teacher's authority has changed? There's no simple answer to these questions.
First of all, it's because teachers are seen as the failures in the success race that we call life.
Through education you're meant to be successful (e.g doctor, lawyer, singer) but teachers start at school and go back there as adults. It's as if they haven't moved on in life.
Secondly, parents are more selfish now, they're more concerned with their own careers so we have a generation of rejected children. Some parents expect the teachers to raise their children for them. There is a lack of respect for just about anyone these days. I think everything starts in the family. If parents do not teach their children to respect other people, teachers can't do anything.
To change this, we need to change the values we hold in our society. Jobs like teachers and doctors need to be valued more than a singer, footballer or model and respected more. But this respect won't come automatically with the job. The teachers in their turn should do their best to be real teachers. Unfortunately, nowadays sometimes students are smarter than their teachers.
And one more thing, teachers are respected by educated intelligent people and disrespected by ignoramuses.
Hala, this question may be discussed for hours as there're so many reasons for it!
Great topic!
More and more teachers here in China think the parents should be involved in the education! I wonder if they (the teachers) would still be capable of teaching without the help of the parents.
@ Hardi:
I agree with you that everyone is responsible ,everyone should do his part :teachers should make the students like the subject first ,then start teaching it .
The system of education might affect the teachers role badly by putting some limited and restricted methods to follow ,sometimes these methods can be an obstacle in the teacher and the student way .everyone is responsible ...but the chief .. :) poor him!
Thanks alot Hardi for your nice comment !
@Scarlett:
Thank you dear for your inclusive comment . You are right ! Teachers bear some responsibility for the failure of their students. They should teach from the heart and feel responsible for their important career in building up a new generation .Students should respect their teachers and do their best to achieve success .
The goal of a teacher is not only to teach knowledge by filling the box with more parts ...
It's putting the pieces together to create a work of art .
