She opened the food packed and saw a freshly made soy-sauced meat stew, steamed rice, and some sliced mango as side dishes, aside from these a sealed water bottle. Her heart almost crushed by the feeling of deep gratitude, it’s not every day that she will receive something from a stranger. Usually, she observed people around her. They only care for themselves and for their loved ones, their welfares. They didn’t even bother to look at her like she has a contagious disease. At first, she was hurt but eventually, she gets used to it.

She ate with gusto while crying. She couldn’t contain the feeling she felt inside, did somebody really care for her? She chewed as tears went down her dirty face.

After she had finished her food, she went to the nearest pharmacy to buy the remedy for her terrible cough. She saw a line of people straight to the sales assistant’s counter. The line went so long because of one customer who kept on insisting something to the sales person. The manager noticed the pile of people getting longer and longer, she decided to go to the counter to ask what the matter is, and probably she could resolve the problem.

The manager asked the salesperson, “What’s wrong here? The line is getting longer.”

“This old lady wants to purchase this medicine amounting to 1,500.00 but she only got 1,200.00, Ma’am” The sales person explained.

“My grandson really needs the medicine, Ma’am, I’m begging you. I will come back to pay the remaining amount. Please trust me. I’m begging you, Ma’am, Sir.” She pleaded.

People heard her pleas but didn’t bother themselves to dig in with her concerns. “Mother, this is a pharmacy, not a charity institution, if we will give in to your proposal, we should do the same to other customers too, or else they will name us unfairly. Please understand we are doing business here.”

“I promise I will pay you, I badly needed the medicine, I don’t know if I can still able to see my grandchild alive.” She was crying already. The Manager with the Sales person and some customers didn’t heed to her issues. The poor old lady left the line believing that she was hopeless, she cried hard and went to the corner murmuring something on herself. She didn’t stop to weep.

The time for the beggar to buy her medicine went on, she asked for cough syrup, which amounted to 300.00, that’s the exact money she received from the Good Samaritan. God is good all the time- she said to herself. She bought the medicine and headed back to the pharmacy’s exit door when she saw the poor old lady crying at the corner. She paced to her, “Why are you crying? Something bad happened?” she asked.

My grandson is sick, but I can’t buy the medicine because my money isn’t enough. I don’t know if I can still see him alive.” She answered in between sob.

“How much more you need so you can buy that medicine?”

“300.00”

The beggar thought for a moment, that’s the same amount she paid for her medicine. She held the hand of the poor old lady and told her to come with her going back to the counter. The old lady submitted herself and went with her.

“Sir, I changed my mind, I will return this medicine and please give her the medicine that she needs for her grandson, includes my money to suffice her purchase.” The beggar said to the sales person pointing to the poor old lady, that moment the Manager is still there listening to them.

“But you need this medicine, your cough is terrible, it will get worse if you’ll not try to cure that.” The sales person said.

“No, please give her my money she needs it more than I do.” The beggar said firmly. The sales person couldn’t believe what he heard and shook his head and prepared the medicine for the poor old lady and she endlessly thanked the beggar for her kindness and left the area hurriedly, just before the beggar about to turn her back... “Why are you doing this?” the manager asked out of curiosity.

“They call it “mercy”.” She answered. The manager became emotional from her simple answer. “Wait! Take this medicine, you need it.” The beggar got surprised and said, “No, I don’t have money to pay this.”

“We call it “mercy”. I think it will not hurt much the business, please take it.” The manager shed some tears.

The beggar went outside the pharmacy felt overjoyed, she looked up to the starry skies and said,

“There’s a miracle, it’s true. Thanks be to God.” She smiled.

THE END

CARE TO READ SOME MORALS… :)

~As the book said, “do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it in your power to do it.” ~

~And, the upright man said, “I everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said; ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”~

Thanks for reading guys!!!!! Smile!!!
