The Beast's Rose

on the west wing of the castle

inside the master's room

lies a sturdy table

with a pink rose in bloom.

a beast watches over the fragile rose

cared for it so much

that it hurts

because he does not hold the sands of time

and as each petal falls

so does his chance.

the chance to tell that he values it so much

even though the rose is untouched.

the rose has its thorns, yes -

but she cannot change things for the beast's sake.

the stone and the glass

as the rose and beast are called.

yet the rose declares she's not!

the beast is an ice cold water -

she may not see the ice but

she can feel the cold.

the beast unable to change what the oracle proclaimed,

the rose - grateful for the given attention -

can only do the same:

to wait.

pygmalion was served best

when his galatea held her first breath

- is a different story.

reality sees the truth.

the beast is not for the rose

because

a servant of lady artemis

does not love

like lovers do. #
