Agriculture and our future!

According to anthropologists and historians, man entered into settled agriculture around 8000 BC, and hence, it was a turning point in the human history! The man who was depending on a nomadic life style gradually entered into the agro-based life style with some domesticated animals and plants.

In the year 1750, another milestone in human history, the agricultural man entered into a new era with the Industrial Revolution!Man invented new inventions for making life easy. The majority of the people shifted to factories from the agro-based life, and by that time, man’s interest on plants was increased greatly with some new findings!

From the beginning, man had a curiosity about the environment, especially, plants and animals! Some plants being were and were subjected to some basic experiments carried out by man on various grounds, and as a result, a new subject was originated in the name of ‘’ Plant Breeding”. “The changing and improving of the heredity of plants for the welfare of man” could simply be defined as Plant Breeding.Plant Breeding is an art as well as a science! At the early days, this sector was developed as an art to a greater extent, but later, it was further developed rapidly with the advancements of Science and Technology.

At present, man has taken the whole authority to manipulate the behaviour of plants in our world to a higher extent! He has been able to introduce new crop varieties to meet the increasing demand on foods. The new findings in Plant Breeding have changed the modern agriculture sector dramatically. Some plant varieties have been improved to withstand adverse environmental conditions prevailing around the globe. In this context, some marginal lands in the world could be converted into greenish patches in future. Some desert areas would contribute to the food production in the future world! Actually, this is a good trend for all of us! Therefore, the future world is clearly gravitated around the agriculture or agro-based subjects! Yes,agriculture is the back bone of human civilization!

Good Luck!
