Social media – what is the purpose?

- To spread and share the news.
Social networks – what social networks we use?
- Facebook – most popular around the world, it would be hard to make another one like this. (In some countries it’s blocked. Do you know where and why it is blocked?)
- Google Plus
- Which one do you prefer? And why?
What are most common reasons to use Social Networks?
- Friends – do you accept requests from strangers? And what you do if people in your friends list don’t talk to you?
- Family
- Coworkers
- Game friends
- Do you have your friends sorted in lists?
There are some example posts that you might see online. What do you think when you see such posts? Is it or not okay to share?
- I’m hungry … really could use pizza right now. – It’s possibly useless and makes no sense. Some people might think the person is asking for pizza.
- My mom was just diagnosed cancer – would you share such news online? I guess no. this kind of message should be shared in private – face to face. Or if we share such news we have to be sure that those people really care for us.
- Rude stuff about my boss (complaining) – another sticky thing. Always there is a chance that it can get shared and your boss will see this. What would you do then? J
- I stole the answers to test and my teacher don’t know that – are you sure that you can share this? Don’t you have some friends who could get angry with you simply because they studied hard before taking this test?
- I’m movin 2 cali in a wk. So excited.– This could be informative post. But there could also be confusion because of short forms used.
- What kind of short expressions do you know or use?
- I love my boyfriend/girlfriend – it’s nice to share such post, but some people might treat this as showing off. They are just bragging.
- Wicked party wit me n my bros. Shoulda been there bitches. – meant to be shared among male friends. Some people might get offended cause of rude words used. Another way of bragging.

Bad password practices still leave Internet users' accounts at risk.
This is about passwords and safety.
- Choose easy passwords – easier to guess, easier to remember
- Choose similar passwords for all websites they use – in case it’s guessed hacker can get in all your accounts
- Write passwords on paper –
- chance to loose paper
- if living place is shared someone can find this paper and log in to accounts and do some naughty things while person is away
- save passwords on computer with password manager
- if computer breaks down passwords can be lost – but we also can use syncronise option and restore passwords on some other computer
Good or bad passwords?
- Asdfghjkl – bad password because it is second line of keyboard
- Redfish – easy password of two words. Better would be to add some numbers.
- Random letters and nubers – are you sure you can rembember such password?
- Your full name – not very good password. Those who know you very good can easy guess it. Also this could first password that hackers to try.
- Madmonkey687 – not bad pass. It contains two words and numbers
- U4c?p – contains all kind of symbols but it’s too short. Computers can get this password very easy.
- O10984 – date of birth. This is also easy to guess if people know your personal information
- iwtlewM2012 – this password is made from sentence that only you know. First letter of each word in sentence. In this case it is I want to learn Englishwith Mark.
