Before I start telling my thoughts let me declare:
This is not meant to blame anyone especial. It is a thought coming up quite often particularly in controversial disputes. During almost all controversial discussions it occures that people try to convince the opponent of the own points of view. People stick to their arguments and do not leave their trace for even a Jota. Usually such disputes end up in useless word-battles, yapping and finally insults and offence.
As much as people reject the idea, but I am sure that after a dispute they feel a fire burning in the stomache, oppression and trepidation. As for life raft then utmost serves the idea that oneself is the smartie (knowing all) and the opponent were unable to see the eternal truth. Oh my god, what an idea : the ETERNAL TRUTH.
What I wonder is whether the above mentioned "life raft" isn´t overestimation of own capabilities. Believing in own smartness and stupidity of opponents allows avoidance of thinking issues through plus helps with calming down and prevention from an imaginary blast off.
Wouldn´t it be smarter sometimes to take arguments of opponents into consideration and think it through before starting dispute?
lol I´d like to see comments, if any, without bopping each other on the head :-D

Dear niece Risty, let them all think they were smarter than you. I do not tell them that all these smarties proud about their wisdom mostly probable not notice that it is you who holds the strings in hand. Provided that it is in your interest.
I am happy that you took the time to read and comment.
Hi bet, thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts.
A former german comedian (he was a very smart and skillfull user of the language) once expressed it in a german way which rhymed. Unfortunately it would not rhyme in the english since there is a word relationship in german that does not exists here. But translated i would read: It sometimes it is better to keep the gob shut than keeping on yapping. Though sometimes it is better to discuss than getting dominated. Hope you share your point of views when you feel the need.
Most of the time it is with great pleasure to make people think they are way smarter than me, at least they think they are. Just to feed them an illusion that they can overpower another person, in the end... just to send them little pleasure.
Knowing when to speak your mind is a vital rule that not all person knows. So, let them lay all their arguments and if they will not accept what is the opponents' views...so be it. No room for improvements though. :)
In most of the cases, I prefer to listen to others and I speak usually less. But, I also have found sometime some people take it as an advantage, they forget they should give me a chance to speak out because I speak less does not mean I have nothing to say...lol Anyway, it is always better to listen to others, other's views and opinion....it is also a very good habit wearing shoes of others, then we can see our surroundings in a different perspective, in a different way!
Hi Estanis, Diah and Rose.
Great to read your comments and thoughts.
The following quote we should consider.
I confess it is not easy to live up to our own values and demands.
Sometimes, it happens that we leave our path. We get seduced by false pride and overestimate us.
But that's human. We aren't robots. It's okay, as long as we concede that also to others. We should have a sense of when we have to stop or step back.
We can't change what we have done but we can learn from.

So far, this is the conclusion I got from your blog and I do agree!
Of course it's smarter Zivi. That's why I put myself in their shoes and I see no respect for veteran members who surely don't know, even if they're much older than me. Just because.
Wise thought Zivi!
