"Majesty King! According to my research, everything is going well among they human on the earth. But there is a trouble as I have noticed, that is no time control on the earth. As people dont know the time, they can't know the rotation of seasons, what's worse, they cant even tell who is elder or younger. So many people complain this issue to me!" Said the Great White Planet, to the Jade Emperor [the Supreme Deity of Taoism].
"Hmmm, Aiqing [close servent] foresight, do you have any good ideas to solve this problem?"
"My humble idea is, choosing 12 different animals as the time zodiac as a rotation. Each animal stands for the symbol of the year."
"Good idea! But which 12 animals?"
"Let they take part in a competition"
"What competition?"
"The frist 12 animals who arrive at here from the earth to our place."
The thearchy all agreed the idea, and informed the animals to prepare for the competition.

I've read about the origin of all those zodiac animals. But that was years ... decades ... hmmm... maybe centuries ago. I can't remember what and which anymore. Love to read about them again.
