"........ .... and take my money!" "........ ...., Meg." Can you fill in the blanks?
And to those who know Chandler Bing - I'm looking at you MARY - What's your immediate answer to "PIVET!"
"PIVET!"
"PIVET!"
Those who said Shut up... bingo!
I'm gonna tell you about other ways to say this ever so satisfying phrasal verb. I'm sure you've heard some of 'em in movies, in your daily conversations or somethin'; just humor me, okay? Here we go:
Stuff it!
Pipe down!
Shut your yap!
Save it!
Put a lid on it!
"Debbie Shut Up!"
Inspired by SeaLab 2021.
Talk to the hand. I don't care for this one, mind you.
Shut your beak! Ha ha!
Shush!
Zip it!
Put a sock in it!
Shut your pie hole/cake hole! Whichever that does it for ya.
Button it!
Shut your face/trap!
How many ways are there to say ''Be quiet!'' in your language?

Oh, brother! I feel you. How can it possibly be racist?
Yep, I call him 'Little Monkey'. He's basically Curious George minus the tail.
aww you call him 'Little Monkey'! How cute!! haha... You know? I liked to call my niece 'Monkey's Face'... till some weeks ago my bro asked me not to do that 'cause she always wants to repeat what I say and, according to his words: "She could call that to her lil mates in the kindergarten and there are some moroccan kids and somebody could think it's 'racist'"... Sigh ¬¬ I was like: "wtf?? What twisted thought is that?? Aren't we all monkeys? Darwin's theory doesn't say anything to you?? And monkey's faces aren't cute anyway?? Geez... I really don't get this world anymore. As you can see, it seems I'm the same Inappropiate Mary here as in 'real life' :(
Thank you!
I knew you'd remember that couch scene immediately. Hee- heeeeeee! A niece, huh? She and my nephew, aka Little Monkey (he's four now)... boy, sounds like a trashy reality show. We ought to swap stories.
Thanks for droppin' by!
hahahhaa I love that scene XD
Cool blog! I didn't know some of these expressions :)
I dunno why I've always found funny the one of 'shut your face', but I've never used it tho. I think atm I've only used the classic 'shut up'.
In my language you say 'cállate!' and I've a recent funny story with this word and my niece (3 y/o). She's in that age where still makes herself a mess speaking, you know. So the other day she was pissed off for dunno what silly kids' stuff and she wanted to say to her dad 'cállate' (You shut up!) but, instead of that, she said: 'cállame!' (Me shut up!) haha... kids... isn't lovely when they talk like drunkards? XD
Thanks for the blog! :)
Three exclamation points? That's excessive. By the way, right back atcha.
made it on the spot :/
bully for you :/
you have been created only to spoil up people's languages :/ Pipe down!!!
Hell no! I don't think it's an expression If you made it on the spot; bully for you.
And pray tell what might that be? A neologism? 'Cause what you just said is Lewis Carroll material.
That has nothing to do with shutting up. Get your head out of the gutter.
