Rudraksha, also rudraksh, Sanskrit: rudrākṣa ("Rudra's eyes"), is a seed is traditionally used for prayer beads in Hinduism and Buddhism. The seed is produced by several species of large evergreen broad-leaved tree in the genus Elaeocarpus, with Elaeocarpus ganitrus being the principal species used in the making of organic jewellery or mala.
Rudraksha, being organic, is preferentially worn without contact with metal; thus on a cord or thong rather than a chain.

Hi again,
I am a born Roman Catholic christian. When I read about Tantra and Yantra, I tried to percieve the common factor of understanding and perception of what is earthly and what is divine, how those manifestations are understood in the religion of both of us. The analogy of Mantra an Mudra with the practices and rituals of Christinas can be compared to the christian prayers and ritual signs - crossing our selves, folding our hands during prayer, standing up and kneeling at given moments of the religious rituals.
Do you agree with my conception, Kalbly?
what did you contemplate about it? whats your religion? what analogy?
Hi Kalbe,
Thanks for sharing such interesting information. While searching for the origin of the bead's name, I came across a lot of very fascinating information about Buddhism and Hinduism. It made me contemplate on the sense of Tantra and Yantra, brood over my Chakras and try to find some analogies in my own religion concerning Mantras and Mudras.
It was really fascinating to read about such old and diverse culture.
