Punctuation Bloopers

Punctuation is used to create sense, clarity and stress in a sentence.  They are small signs that help to organize and provide structure to a sentence.  Sometimes we can think to ourselves, are these signs really necessary?  I mean can they actually make a difference?  I came across different punctuation mistakes on the internet, some were funny and strange but some were just downright wrong!  To say that punctuation can not only alter the content of the sentence but can create a distortion is an understatement indeed!  Simply put punctuation blunders in all its forms is a writing catastrophe that can produce disastrous results.    Let's have a look-see shall we?

They can come out weird

 Or cannibalistic...

Or well what can I say, this is just messed up!

Finally if you want just one more proof of how the misuse of these little signs can screw up the context of your writing, here's a letter that will give you some food for thought!

The Importance of Correct Punctuation
When punctuation makes the difference between yearning and spurning

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we’re apart. I can be forever happy – will you let me be yours?

Gwen

Yours,
Gwen

  • :D Alice,, good shoot, teacher! Punctuation is so important in any language. I learnt it in my own language, Indonesian. I think it has no different. But, probably it's a bit hard for people who have an origin language with non-alphabet script, like Arabic or Chinese letter. I wonder how they learn.

Thank you for a useful blog, and also fun. :))
