  • Dear Alison!

Here are the two words that confused me. Hope I managed to make a clear difference between the two this time! Thank you!!

    1. phonetic     / fəˈnetɪk /
    2. fanatic       / fəˈnætɪk /

  • That's fabulous Gabriel, thank you so much.

I think the embedded avatar is quite fantastic!

I also learned about the phonetics of letters when I was learning how to write in shorthand, it was necessary to position the notation either on, above or below the line to be able to read the little lines and squiggles and dots back afterwards as the same notation would be used for the words "knot", "night", "nought"  and "gnat", for example.

A very minor correction for you (and I feel so guilty correcting you because it was so very, very close to being perfect), but, you talk about phonetics yet seem to pronounce it "fanatics" which is a completely different meaning.

Thanks for your contribution, I too love to learn.

    Ali

    Alison’s:

"Though the tough cough and hiccough plough him through."

    Josef Essberger’s:

"A rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed”

  • Thank you Alison! I'm still trying to improve my pronunciation via different methods.

Nice to meet you. Please try more syllables and exercise of pronunciation that can improve me more as well.

Have a nice day to you! :)

  • Your first list wasn't all that clear to hear, but when you read the part where you tell me the rhymes, it was very good.

A general comment that you have a lovely voice, you speak clearly and your diction is precise. Well done!

Sandeep, you too were very clear and understandable.

  • I cannot send you a private message for feedback, Sandeep.

Your pronunciation was very good, well done. When you read the sentence though, you pronounced Hiccough as "cough" and not "cup"; otherwise is well done.

  • Good Morning Alison!

Please find my recording of Pronunciation lesson 1. letters OUGH.
