And now we all are probably thinkin' something like:
"-Ugh, poor little squirrel, it looks so sad...".
Yup. Poor little one.
But this is just 1 tree in one neighborhood.
Now multiply this situation by millions each year...

DEFORESTATION FACTS:
- Forests cover 30% of the Earth’s land.
- One and a half acres of forest is cut down every second.
- It is estimated that within 100 years there will be no rainforests.
- The rate of deforestation equals to loss of 20 football fields every minute.
- Up to 28,000 species are expected to become extinct by the next quarter of the century due to deforestation.
- The total world forest loss till date is 7.3 million hectares per year.

Mishaikh, thanks for dropping by!
Well, this is not a story of mine, but a story I found in the internet and I wanted to share with you all, adding my concern for the global deforestation. We really are in a very bad situation and we should be aware of it, at least.
Thanks for your comment.
Icha! Nice to see you around, I haven't seen you lately, I hope everything is Ok and you're just busy!
Thanks for sharing your concern with us, we should be looking for more ecological alternative resources, or at least to make use of the ones we've found already. But as you said, money is more important for the endless human being's greed. Something really stupid, since money is just a piece of paper made up by the men, while there is just 1 planet where we can survive and we're ruining 'cause of that useless 'piece of paper'.
But money can not buy another planet like this one. I think that's something the stupid people who rules the world don't seem to know yet... The sad thing is they're gonna find out that too late.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us.
Hi Mary,
This is miserable to see that pictures. “Modern people” are only thinking about how they can get money more and more as they want without think over the sustainability of the earth not only for us but for our next generation as well. Ideally we should preserve the existence of forests and use the natural resources on earth wisely. I know it is our responsibility to keep the forests, but if it is in large scale of course the government should take a good policy to prevent deforestation wildly. Sometimes money talking more, so everything can be bought by money. Tragic.
Not only to produce O2 that is important in our inhalation but existence of forests itself can reserve water as well. Both of water and oxygen are the important things in our life, without them we all die for sure. Without eating we can survive till 7 days, without drinking we can survive till 2 days but without oxygen will die soon..
Thus, I couldn’t agree with you more about the last quote that you wrote at the end of your blog. Very well written Merry, this blog awake up of our awareness about our Mother Earth’s gifts for us. Thanks for sharing this with us.
May be he (or she) is thinking:
LET'S MAKE A HOUSE WHICH HAS NO WALLS, NO DOORS AND WINDOWS.
Why the term "save the earth'" invented, because of this situation. Your neighbour must have seen some alternative rather than making this beautiful create homeless.
Adaline! your words as so right and nice as usually. And you gave a very good suggestion: to plant new trees. The problem is that the food industry every time 'needs' more fields to produce because of the overpopulation. Even if we're already producing more food than the necessary and that means to waste and throw lot of food every year... A really outrageous situation since there are so high levels of poverty and malnutrition in the whole world... It's all nonsense! Just because we have a nonsense and selfish system.
Taking in mind the overpopulation is increasing really fast, there will be soon a point of no return... All the rainforest will be farmlands and there won't be room to plant a single tree.
The situation is so extreme and alarming that is really crazy we're not doing anything... And the saddest thing of all is that once we reach that point of no return, we can't say we weren't informed about that situation.
So, my sweet Ada... What we need is people like you ruling the world :(
Eva! It's so nice to see you around! I was missing you these days ^_^
Aww what a cute thing, you trying to chase squirrels with your cam! haha... They don't know you're super sweet and you don't pretend to do any harm, but it's very good that they run away from the human being, that's smart ;)
But if you can get to take any picture of them, don't forget to share it here with us! Squirrels are so cute ^_^
Thanks a lot for your nice words; as I said to Adaline, it would be so good if all of you who are commenting here and care about this situation were the ones ruling the world! People like you is what the world needs to survive! :(
Jade, yes it's really sad that we're just ignoring this situation. The world media and education systems might also raise awareness about it but, you know... Money talks and as I replied to Adaline, the overpopulation and the way the food industry cares more about profits than our limited resources is a big problem.
We are not just the worse enemy for the the planet Earth, but also the worse enemies for ourselves. We're blind only because we prefer to be blind than face the problem and make a big change in our system and lifestyles.
You said it very well: "civilizations tend to self-destruction." Definitely. And the evidences speak for themselves. But you're not pessimistic Jade. You just see what most of the world population prefer just to ignore.
Thank you so much for your great comment.
Risty! You made me smile just reading 'El Felino' haha... sounds like a Mexican place; so cute :D
Oh I can feel you! I also love Natural reserves and woods to 'hide' from the civilization. What's going to happen then? Probably we're gonna look like this poor squirrel, standing with sad faces in front of millions of cut down trees :(
It's so sad what you tell us about your home place...
But what you say is very important: Maybe we can't rule the world the way we'd like, but at least we can do small things... If each and every one of us contribute doing things like not wasting water, not to litter, recycle or to be informed what kind of products we buy almost daily and harm the environment, so we can stop buying such things or replace them for other more eco-friendly items... Just that would be a lot! Because lot of small things together can make a big change :)
To raise awareness, spread the message and educate our kids to respect the environment is really important.
Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion :)
Luci, hahaha Jekyll and Hyde? I thought you just had a crazy Hyde side hahaha... Okay okay, kidding! I know you're sweet as well ^_^
Yes, we are destroying everything like spoiled childs (and there's nothing that get me on my nerves more than spoiled childs!)
And the problem is not only that lot of animals are being evicted and therefore, they all will end up dying. The problem is... Do you know how can we produce oxygen without plants and trees? because... I don't :(
Dear Shoba, yes it is... And the worse thing is that people who rule the world and can change the situation are totally aware of this problem... but they don't do anything because it affects their stupid business. It's all about money, as usually.
Thanks a lot for dropping by and sharing your concern with us.
AG yes, you're right and that's one of the things that piss me off the most! We know this info since long time ago, but still nothing is changing! As I replied to Jade, we just prefer to keep ignoring the situtation. So once we reach the point of no return, we can't say we didn't know about it.
As you very well say, this is going to fast and the overpopulation is "helping" to that. The resources of the Earth are limited and we're takin' more than what the land can give us... This situation isn't sustainable so, we definitely need to change our lifestyle if we want to survive.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
Hello Kal! How nice to see you around. Yes, I think at least we can spread the message. That's something very important we all can do, even if it's a hard message that nobody wanna hear about because it means we all need to change our lifestyles.
Thank you so much for sharing these wise words you say in the picture.
Really come tears. So hurt your story.I felt that loss a habitat of my little one’s .Squirrel is one of my favorite animal. Every morning they come on my parapet wall. To eat rice. If I was late, they are shouting loudly. My cute little one’s. I am really love every animals. But this kind of situation has everywhere. How many animals have, loss their habitat per day. Mostly selfish of humans. Another side development....
However, you have given a great message to the society. Many thanks for it.
really sad facts, although we have been told these information for so long time. but still the wheels of the destruction are going so fast.. I am thinking now about what we will leave to our children and the children of our children to inherit.. possibly nothing..
The information you have shared is alarming, Mary. We can fulfill a man's need, but we can never fulfill a man's greed. Unless this greediness is killed, reducing the deforestation may be a very difficult task. :(
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention.
Anywayz, if we destroy homes of the animals, ofc we are destroying animals, we are destroying also ourself!! As for Amazon forests they are soooooo beneficial when it comes to ecosphere ot how it is called in English.. these forrests are home of so many animals, species we have no idea about and we dare to make them homeless...GRR!!! Selfish, disgusting people!!!
El Felino, where will I go now? There’s no place for me, I’m a stray now… I love nature, trees, bushes, flowers, bees, dragonflies, butterflies and my comrades...too many to mention… I will never be comfortable with city life, and gradually sorrows and longing will kill me…L- Jewel (Blue Macaw-Blu’s wife in Rio)
In my home, way back 10 years ago, snakes and butterflies can still sneak into our house, the former will hide anywhere it felt relaxed and the latter will just sleep on our ceiling. But now, I haven’t seen these fellas around, due to some industrialization and commercialism, our area that was formerly surrounded by rice fields is now close to a manufacturing place. They’ve converted the lands from scenic to pathetic. Modernization is such a hindrance to attaining solitude, just look around, everything moves fast and nature is the least priority.
So what now? Are we just going to watch this unsightly episode? Nah, They don’t like trees, I like…so I better get a shovel and piece of land, start to plant…:D or if unable to do this, maybe I can just do something like simple things, for example not to litter or I will conserve water usage. There are so many things we can contribute to preserving a squirrel its home. :)
Thanks, Mary, such an eye opener blog.
Dear MARY! I feel so sad when I read the bloody fact of human deforestation and the squirrel that lost its home.
I agree with Adaline and Evangelina. Nothing can take the place of the rainforest as the lung of the earth, and humans should be blamed for their myopic behavior.
I once heard a theory that why there was no definite evidence of aliens and their interstellar travel, was because no civilization would survive to the day when the technology was advanced enough to practice interstellar travel. In other words, civilizations tend to self-destruction. That’s what we do right now. All kinds of Pollutions, the deforestation, and the extinctions of other creatures…
I’m sorry that I am a little pessimistic. And thank you very much for sharing these touching photos and the impressive information.
