Hello my partners, being a member of myEC has been a great experience for me, not only because I´ve improved my level English, but I´ve met wonderful people and made some friends... I´m very lucky to have friends in this social network.
But there is a thing I still can´t understand: why, here in My English Club, are some people afraid to express their opinions??
Sometimes it seems like they think: "I don´t like to talk about politics (or another "hot" topic) because I don´t want to lose a friend", or "what will people think about me", or "I´m here to make friends", "we must respect other's beliefs"...
Honestly, I think this way of thinking is very ridiculous. Trust me, it´s impossible for everybody to like me, it´s a waste of time and it doesn´t work. In my case, I just express my opinions, I don´t try to impose my beliefs, I know sometimes I´m not "polite", but that´s all.
If somebody wants to talk to me and share a conversation, Great... if somebody thinks I´m part of the "moral decay of our society", Great, it´s his problem, not mine.
I´d like to know your opinion: are you looking for approval many times? Why do you think some people need approval??

Hello Abiba, thanks four your reply, we are not equal, that´s right, but I don´t understand when you said "not to hurt anybody principles". Do you really think "somebody ideas" can be hurt??
Dear Gerardo, we are here to share our ideas, to talk about our different culture and to see how people from all around the world look at things differently. But I believe we are not here to insult others. Sometimes different ideas and beliefs might seem so strange to others we can ask them about their ideas in order to know more about it or ask them if they think that their idea is logical or good but in the end we should remember to respect them and that is the important point.

As about me, mostly it's just because of my laziness (sorry for that :)), some other times I've found the topics are not interesting enough,or some others are stubbornly stick to their opinions and can't open their mind to agree to disagree ( that's very necessary in every discussions), I saw it happening many times here with the some topics about religions or customs etc... And in this case all arguments are somehow useless.
When I comment to any topics it's my "right and responsibility" to put my own ideas and opinions despite the fact that it sounds nice or not or people might like it or not. When we discuss about something , it's not our purpose to be the winner or not, but we will have many ideas from different perspective and viewpoints... and through that process we've learnt new and useful things. Isn't that all discussions about?

It's not that we are afraid to express our opinion but just because MyEC is still a public community where we all try learn how to be courteous and polite to each one. Even in our actual world we behave in the same way.
