My friends! I'd like to propose you one more writing task. Analyzing the results of my "American" tests I have decided to start this challenge. First of all, I'd like to say that a date/dating is a very positive word. Even 12-14 year old kids date. Males ask felames to go out with them just to have fun, to communicate and to learn more about each other. But if we speak about adults, nobody knows the end! Ha-ha! So, my task is the following. I will give you a list of American words you should use in your stories because I ask you to write about an American date. I hope your stories will be breathtaking, emotional and humorous.
Well, here are the words you are expected to use in your writing. Sure, you don't have to use all the words and you may add some other American words you know.
- go out with
- date
- streetcar
- amusements/cotton candy/ice lolly
- restaurant
- appetizer
- entree/side dish/salad/dressing
- Steak rear/medium rear/ medium/well done
- hire a car
- windshield/ blinker
- slow down
- apartment building
- bathroom.
- teddy
- latte
- pants
- suspenders
- evening gown
- tuxedo
- reception
Hope to hear from you soon! Have a great weekend!

Dear Eve! I hope your explanations are not for me as I got your story at once. You should write fictions! Thank you so very much!
Dear Afro! Let me answer for Danny. Your sentence "I wonder, If you could guess what would be the effect of your last reply's first line to my home" is still incorrect because of a few reasons. Let me explain.
1. In the last subordinate clause is a wrong word order.
2. "to my home". The preposition is wrong.
3. "your last reply's first line" is correct grammatically but is not commmon.
4. EFFECT is not the word you should have used.
So, the correct sentence should read something like this:
I wonder if you could guess what reaction the first line of your last reply would cause at my home
I wonder, If you could guess what would be the effect of your last reply's first line to my home (is it okay now, if not then how do you say?)
Dear Ka_ty! I can't tell you why, but there is a rule that reads: we don't use any article before BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER if there is no definition. If there is a definition, there must be the article "a". For example:
I've just had dinner. (no definiition, no article)
I've just had a delicious dinner. (there is a definition "delicious")
Is it clear now?
Dear Clark.. I'm sorry about the steak. ha-ha.. I thought it was a verb:) Now, i know that Americans prefer their steak rear or medium rear..I like it well done.. so that's why i want a well done steak..but I'm not an American:) May I know, why we cannot put a before dinner? Thank youu.
Dear Afro! First, I will reply and then I will answer your grammar questions, OK?
Of course, I didn't expect anything like that! Poor kid! If I had expected you were going to read my comment to your daughter, I would have said something different. I thought I was writing to an adult woman. I am so sorry!
Well, hamsters are very small funny animals, but they are not rats. I am posting a picture. In many European countries as well as in America people buy them as the first pets for their children. Unfortunately, hamsters don't live long and I didn't think about it! As to a macaw, it is a very good choice. A parrot, if he is taken right care of, may live as long as a human. We don't know how old our parrot is, but I tell you, Tanya bought him about 20 years ago and he was already adult and very talkative. But he is not old, yet.
Now, let me answer your questions. Your first sentence is incorrect. The tenses are wrong, besides, there is no main clause. I have already written the correct sentence.
Also,
"Anyway what do you say about a topic which is up to date and necessary as well as....is it contemporary? For example, if I want to say it as a complement of a newly posted blog?"
Dear! I would say it is wrong although I understand what you mean.. As I understand, there is some newly posted blog (correct) and you want to post a blog on the same/similar topic as an addition. Have I got your idea? In this case you should say "I'd like to post this blog as an addition to.....". You see, you can say "up-to-date topic" if you mean that the problem you are going to describe is a talk of the world nowdays. But if you are going to tell about your personal problems, feelings, etc., it will be wrong. So, ask your questions, please!
Dear sir, If you could guess what would be the effect of your last reply's first line to my home (is the line correct?)! hahaha, yesterday evening I read out your reply to my kid to develop her understanding. But, after completing the first line she started crying and asked me why did we slaughter her' Chukchuki' ( her duck) two years ago? You understand, I had nothing to say except it was about to get sick. In reality, we were facing trouble to take care of it so our maid slaughtered it and cooked for us.
Usually we do not eat ducks instead we like to eat chicken. After that one year ago we
bought her another duck ( which died later)but she could not forgot her previous one.
Have you any advice how can I help her? Anyway , hamster is like big rat type
animal, right? If it is, it is not available here so far I know. So,I am thinking to buy her a duck or a macaw. Anyway what do you say about a topic which is up to date and necessary as well as....is it contemporary? For example, if I want to say it as a complement of a newly posted blog?
Dear Afro! I can surely understand your feelings as my first dog died in my arms. I was about 18, but I wasn't ready to lose my best friend! My dad helped me to bury her, to arrange her grave and tried to calm me down, but everything was useless. I sufffered so badly! And I hadn't been able to adopt any other pet until I met Tanya who reassured me. And I am so happy she did it! Now we have our "peronal zoo": 5 cats, a great dog and a swearing parrot and we are happy!
Your choice may be right. Ducks don't bite, they just can't, but swans do! I remember feeding swans from the hand and one of them bit me to blood! But have you ever thought about hamsters? Kids like them and they don't bite!
As to your question. If a predicate is a compound (consists of two words) you should place an adverb incide "children can rarely manage"... Thank you for being such a curious learner!
