It's the time of twilight. Nobody sees the woman behind the window of the house next to the park. She is hiding behind the curtains. She doesn't want anyone to see her.
She likes watching the young lovers, sitting on the benches in the park, holding their hands and kissing each other.
She smiles, but in her eyes gleam tears. She is far away from the reality, lost in dreams. She's back in time when she was also one of those couples.
She is married, but the passion of her marriage has gotten lost in the daily routine of the years. She had always tried to keep the love alive. It was in vain. If one in marriage sees the other's love as self-evident or even no longer perceives it, what else can one do?
She misses being wanted, desired by her husband. She barely remembers the last stroll with him while he was holding her hand. She remembers the good years with sadness and longing.
The woman behind the window awakes from her daydream. She wipes away the tears, goes back to the sitting room where her husband watches TV as always.
"Time for dinner?", she asks him while she kisses him on cheeks.
"Hmmm.. if you want," he says.
She goes to the kitchen and prepares something for dinner.
Both eat in silence.
He doesn't stop watching TV during dinner. He doesn't notice her soul-pain.
She does still love him, that's why she stays. There is still hope, deep inside her, but she isn't sure for how much longer.

Hi, Rose.
Extremely beautiful and heart touching.
It’s strange or shall I say sad? How easily people can get bored of love & how they start to take it for granted. They run after it, when they can’t have it & once they do get it, they take it for granted and neglect it This man doesn’t realize, how lucky he is to have such a beautiful lover, that makes him so unlucky.
Thank you so much, for sharing the beautiful story with us.
You may be right, Mishaikh.
But between continuing our expressing of love again and ignoring someone is not the same. If there isn't anything else than silence, if there aren't any signs of love in the eyes, no tenderness, no interest, if the habit the only is what remains...that hasn't to do anything with the expectation that someone expresses his love again and again by words.
Sometimes, only one of the twos loves still. That's what I wanted to point out in my short story.
I think it hasn't anything to do with the society or in which part of the globe we live.
It's a personal and intimate issue between a couple.
I have seen this only in Eastern societies, where when couple gets married, with the passage their expressing of love becomes invisible, but it is still docile. But in Western world, it seems must to express "I love you" time and again. It is good, but I don't think that if any one of the couple is not repeating their passion again and again, they are not in love anymore. But, I do agree the attention and care should also be reflected from the body language, especially from eyes and smile. Reflection of emotion is also like you are saying to your partner "I love you"!
Very aptly written the emotions of a neglected one.
Thanks Rose, lovely story.
Hello, Rahul Wazir.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my blog.
We get the best judgment when we see that people understand and feel what we write.
Hello, anum.
The reality writes the best and worst stories. We are just the ones who write down them on a piece of paper.
And about my story: where is hope, there is life.
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog.
The last line still hope.,still inside her awake makes me emotional..That's true u depict the reality in a beautiful manner.
Hi, Ramnord.
Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. You got me exactly. But if we don't expect anything in life, there would be a standstill. It's hard to realize and to accept such situations but much harder to change them. Sometimes the only result is resignation.
Ahmed N.Elmenshawy, it's on you to build your own opinion.
Have you think
if she has a nice soul or not ?
