Dear Captain,
Guess where am I! I am by the sea which is 10 minutes' walk from grandma's house. Which sea are you at?
The summer holiday is almost over, I have enjoyed a carefree holiday though. I just had my dinner. Right now I am sitting on the beach, barefooted. It rained during the daytime. Now it's windy and cool. When I was going out, grandma stuffed a cluster of grapes into my bag. Hehe, would you like some?
As for grapes, I think of a tale that grandma has told me before——The Weaver Girl and The Cowherd. It's a long but touching love story. The general tale is about a love story between Zhinv (the weaver girl, symbolizing Vega) and Niulang (the cowherd, symbolizing Altair). Their love was not allowed, thus they were banished to opposite sides of the Silver River (symbolizing the Milky Way). Once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, a flock of magpies would form a bridge to reunited the lovers for one day. The tale of The Weaver Girl and the Cowherd has been celebrated in the Qixi Festival, or Chinese Valentine's Day, since the Han Dynasty [about 2000 years ago].
Captain, in my opinion, the Qixi Festival is comparably more romantic yet heartrending than Valentine's Day because this is the only time of year when the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meet each other cross the Milky Way. Although the Cowboy and the Weaver Girl, only once a year opportunity to meet, but I think they are happy and sweet as their deep love brings their life hope. Life with hope is a nice one, do you agree with me, Captain?
I remember grandma said if it rains on Qixi night, those raindrops are their happy tears. And if you sit under a grapevine at deep night, you can hear their whisper. I am not under a grapevine, but I am eating grapes while writting to you.
Oh, it starts raining, I have to stop and go back home. By the way, today is Qixi Festival.
Yours sincerely
Nikita
