When I was kid, my hands were often looking dirty with the resin of spruce, because I was climbing trees. But not as much as my older brother did.
B.T.W Spruce resin have some good properties too. First thing, it have good smell of course, but it can apply to thorn wounds also, when there's piece of thorn, or dirt left inside skin.. It supposedly helps to cure it quicker by sucking dirt out.. Pine resin works too, I think. But I always used spruce resin when I was kid..
