My friends! Today I will tell you how to use too/either/also correctly.
TOO has three different uses. We use TOO only in affirmative sentences and questions without negation and separate it with coma(s).
1. Before an adjective or an adverb it means excessively, to a higher degree than is desirable, permissible, or possible.
You are driving too fast for me to enjoy the ride.
He is too lazy to become a good musician.
2. If we speak about one person, at the end of an affirmative sentence it means in addition.
She is a pretty woman, and a smart one, too.
3. If we speak about two or more people, TOO means that one person is doing/feeling something like the other/others. In this case we can place TOO at the end of the sentence or after a subject, if a sentence is rather long.
You said you like winter. Well, I like it, too.
You have told me about your interests. I, too, like reading, computers, swimming, outdoor activities, etc.
Do you like it, too?
EITHER is used in the negative sentences and questions. It means the same as TOO in 3. We always place it at the end of a sentence and separate with coma.
You said you don't like winter. I don't like it, either.
Now, I will show you the correct short answers we usually use in our everyday life.
1. - I like winter.
- So do I (Me, too)
2. - I am not hungry.
- Neither am I (Me, either).
ALSO is close to TOO in 2. It means in addition, as well. We use it in affirmative sentences speaking about one person. We place it like any other adverb, but we can also use it before a subject.
He works and also studies.
I have been to many countries. Also, I was in Italy and Greese last year.
I hope, my explanations are clear enough. And now, I will ask you to write very short stories or some sentences using these words correctly.
Comments
Thank you, Danny, for your help! )))
Dear Lana, I think I can answer without reading the comment you replied. Your first sentence is correct, but two others are not
Dear Danny,
Answering one comment, I didn't know how to write it correctly.
Which of these sentences is better?
Sometimes these thoughts cross my mind too.
Sometimes these thoughts cross my mind as well.
Sometimes these thoughts cross my mind also
Dear Teacher Danny,
Thank you very much for the corrections and the appreciation. I am glad to know that you liked my story. :)
When I said they were two of a kind, I meant they were similar. http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/be-two-of-a-kind. I am not sure, but I think it's a British idiom or could be a phrase that is not commonly used. I will try not to use it hereafter.
Dear Eve! If you have any questions about use of these words, just ask!
My dearest Shoba! What a great comment! I 100% agree with your idea. Thank you so much! Here are my corrections. You know, you can always ask me your questions.
Aksha and Abisha were good friends. They were young and also adventurous. They not only__ lived in the __ neighborhood but also worked at the same place.
They were two of a kind (what do you mean by that?”They both were kind”?)and shared the same likes and dislikes. Aksha enjoyed reading English books. Abisha enjoyed reading English books, too. Aksha didn't like __coffee. Abisha didn't like it, either.
One day, a good-looking young man called Vishu joined their company. Aksha liked him and wanted to impress him. Abisha __ liked him, too and tried to get his attention.
But Vishu wasn't interested in either of them. He thought Aksha's nose was too big for her face and Abisha was too skinny.
When Aksha and Abisha got to know about that they started feeling bad about their appearances. It's a pity that since then Aksha thought of nothing but making her nose smaller, and on Abisha's mind was __ only gaining weight!
Here's my attempt, dear Teacher Danny.

Dear Serene! Thank you very much for such a mysterious story! Here are my corrections. You know, you can always ask your questions.
When I was a toddler, my father moved from the town to the village. He got promotion for his honesty and sincerity, he also got a house named the Dream Villa from the government___. I felt there was something evil about __ that house because I heard screaming sounds at night. Also, I sometimes heard cracking sound__ like breaking off a thin tree branch__.__ Also, that time dry leaves rustled mournfully in the dark __ and __ didn't let me sleep, either. I felt nervous.
I was too terrifying to live in that house and too scary to sleep at night. My parents didn't believe in ghosts and evil spirits__. So they did not pay any heed to me.
Dear Danny! Here I am with the short story. Hope you would not mind making necessary corrections.
When I was a toddler, my father transferred from town to village. He got promotion for his honesty and sincerity, also got a house from the government for living name Dream Villa. I felt there was something evil about in this house. Because I heard screaming sounds at night. Sometimes also heard cracking sound, its sound like a thin tree branch break off the tree, during that time dry leaves also made a mournful rustled in the dark, felt nervous and it didn't let me sleep either.
I was too superstitious to live in that house and too scared to sleep at night, my parents didn't believe in ghosts and evil spirits, "they didn't either". So they did not pay heed to me.
