When you're flying, the airplane that carries you on is being guided by some pieces of equipment installed at determined points on the ground. Those things create kind of virtual roads or paths in the space on which the airplanes can fly using automatic pilots. The same happens when the aircraft is getting ready for landing: there is a virtual slope and a virtual axis that guide the plane right into the landing point of the runway. It may explain why your plane is able to get to its destination even when the weather is too bad so that you can't see anything.
I work with that stuff. My job is to get them operating full time so that your flight is as safe as possible.
My job requires electronics knowledge, English knowledge and military knowledge for sure: I'm a military man with the Brazilian Air Force. So I'm also supposed to deal with guns and all the military stuff like military training and so on.
