Hi everyone!I want to tell you about my hometown. I am sure most of you have no idea where is located. So I will tell all that I know. Also I hope you will get some answers on your questions, which you always ask me.Let's start.Ukhta is an important industrial city in the Komi Republic of northwestern Russia.
HistoryOil springs along the Ukhta River were already known in the 17th century. In the mid-19th century, industrialist M. K. Sidorov started to drill for oil in this area. It was one of the first oil wells in Russia. There was homecraft oil-field in 1920–1921 in Ukhta. Lying on the river of the same name, the settlement was founded as the village of Chibyu in 1929, but in 1939 it was renamed Ukhta. It received the town status in 1943 when it was linked to the Pechora Railway. To the east of the city is Sosnogorsk, and to the southwest Yarega. As well as its rail link Ukhta also has an airport. The city expanded in the 1940s and 1950s by use of political prisoners' forced labour.

Here are explored some areas with reserves of limestone for the pulp and paper industry - 33 million tons, fluxing limestone - 43 million tons of limestone to produce building lime - 141 million tons for cement production - 324 million tons. For the production of crushed stone and rubble stone developed one site Belgopskogo deposits with reserves of 10.9 thousand cubic meters, as well as plot Sedyuskogo deposits with reserves of 747.6 thousand cubic meters, Waste from the development of carbonate material can be used for liming of soils (the production of ground limestone).NowUkhta lies within the Pechora River basin, an important oil and gas-producing region. The oilfields lie on the south and north of the city. Some of the Ukhta's oil is refined locally; most, however, is piped to oil refineries between St. Petersburg and Moscow.Now Ukhta has developed industrial potential, diverse and well-studied resource base, its economy is dominated by different processing industries, a well-established manufacturing, construction and transport infrastructure.In Ukhta formed qualified, including scientific-technical, human capacity at enterprises of oil refining, mining of oil, machine building industry. The city operates several research and design institutes in the field of exploration, exploitation and design of oil and gas industry.

2. Gazprom - Gazprom Transgas UkhtaOne of the largest energy companies in the world. Its main thrusts are the exploration, production, transportation, storage, processing and marketing of hydrocarbons, as well as the production and sale of electricity and thermal energy.
3. LukoilSecond, after Gazprom's total operating revenues, the company in Russia. Company's main activities - exploration and production of oil and natural gas production and sale of petroleum products.
